What battery do I need?

Hello all,

Sorry for the silly question but I am pretty confused about what battery my vape needs.

I have a Smok Mag Grip kit which has a 0.15 coil - knowing this I have used a few ohm/vape calculators to try and work out what Amp battery I need to keep it safe.

I vape around 60W and this gives anything from 20-22 amps as the answer so I bought a Samsung 25R as they seemed a well reviewed battery but am wondering if I should have gotten something slightly higher? Not really sure how much headroom is sensible to have on these things.

Thanks in advance

I don't know the kit that well but a quick google says it takes a 21700 cell or an 18650 using the adapter. Is that the one you have ?

If using 18650 then the 25r is probably ok but a better choice would have a Sony vtc5a or Molicel P26A.
If using a 21700 then either Samsung 30T or 40T or a Molicel P42A would be good choices.

Welcome to the forum btw

hi and welcome to the planet

never a silly question when it comes to battery safety so always best to ask.

as yours is a regulated mod 25R are fine or even 30Q which has more mar so will last longer.
ive been using 30Q in all my mods but are slowly changing over to molicel P26A as Mick mentioned above.
the vtc5a are very highly rated as well.

the only time you will need a ohm calculator really is for mechanical mods which have no protection.

and always buy from a reputable supplier like Fogstar https://www.fogstar.co.uk/ and defo not ebay as there have been a lot of fakes out there.

Being a regulated device the board will, to some degree, control amp draw. At 60w you're pulling around 15a so within the 25R rating. For battery life 20/21700 batteries in general will give you longer run time & still have some Amp headroom. The batteries mentioned will all do the job & some will last longer between charges.
