I think the Evod is a great middle ground - it's rebuildable and vapes well. I know some are critical of the smaller tanks because they take less juice, but I quite like the opportunity to ring the changes quite regularly.
DCTs are also surprisingly good, with lots of vapour.
The VV batteries do offer a bit more flexibility, and mean you can adjust the voltage rather than having to fiddle about finding a resistance that suits - but adding one of these to the selection of batteries is an option anytime, as it's useful having more than one anyway (for vaping while charging).
I have 5 egos now, one of them a Twist (VV) - and I flit between them all (and a selection of Protanks, DCTs, Evods and small CE4 type tanks)
