So I can see that there is a petition going around to 'save' vaping . . . now I'm still trying to work out what the outcome will be if government are successful and the campaign isn't, what will happen?

Pessimistically, you'll be classed as a smoker. Pay through the nose with taxes and be treated like dog shit.

Optimistically, vaping is now an unstoppable juggernaut and the powers that be will only be able to tinker at the edges.

If vaping gets over-regulated a few things will happen.

1 : small businesses will no longer create e-liquids or import their own goods and keep the market competitive
2 : tobacco and pharma companies will be the places you get any of these products from and they will only just be effective (so you buy more and drive profit)
3 : vapers find nothing works as well and go back to smoke or are forced to quit altogether (or in my case start the yo-yo cycle of quit, have 12 months smoke free start by accident, smoke for a year or three, rinse and repeat)
4 : vapers who refuse to bow to regulation will look toward a black market for the products that they want or need - China will still export and will just get creative.

Dude, I bloody hope all this doesn't happens. I'm only just getting into mods and DIY e-liquids . . . will the law regulate the buying of e-liquids and DIY e-liquids? Do you know when this regulation is supposed to be passed or be set in place?

The short answer is no-one knows anything yet. Even manufacturers have not been given information about what is expected from them.

For example, the sale of e-liquids over 20mg is not allowed so DIY mixers who need 18mg or 20mg juices will not be able to use flavouring realistically and those needing higher than 20mg are just sent to the doctors for their pharma prescription - however, from a manufacturing perspective nothing has been filtered down about the use of higher strength nicotine so we could get high flavour and still offer 20mg strengths.

We don't have a time frame, we don't have the rules on what testing and provenance will be required. It is all just shrouded in mystery to all at the moment and something that none of us hope comes to fruition.

So on that premise, is it a worth while idea to spend my money on expensive mods, RDA's and RBA's if they may or may not regulate the industry?

Well, they cannot un-invent what is already on the market, they can't easily ban the mods and RDAs we currently have. They cannot stop standard batteries being available or people selling atomisers that are not exactly advertised as atomisers. Similarly I guess there will always be liquids available in some form so I would enjoy your mods and RDA's :)

Even if a regulatory ban does come into force in the way we expect, there will be a way around some of it that appears eventually - loopholes are always present :D

The main worry is that if there becomes a "Black Market" in liquids etc, then it will be the gangsters/drug dealers who take up the gauntlet......Can you imagine having to go to some murky back street somewhere to buy your juice ?? Somewhere where the quality is unregulated and the contents cannot be confirmed as safe to vape ??.... Where you could possibly get yourself a criminal record if caught buying it ??.... Where "The Children" can get access to more dangerous chemical concoctions ???

All the more reason to sign, and get others to sign the EFVI register.......

You put across a very good point, there will always be ways of getting mods, RBA/RDA's and DIY e-liquids . . . even of it means importing!

I've just received my order of 1ltr of nicotine base 72mg and that should easily last me a few years, I also already own as many tank type devices as I'll need (especially as I now prefer RDA 's)so as far as new regulations go I'm sorted. I still signed the efvi as well as badger my mp with emails requesting an appointment (he's always to busy to see me, as my points I wish to discuss aren't to do with the nuclear dustbin down the road) but he will be looking for voters eventually and I'll enjoy telling the knobhead where to go.

Sent by lazer from just north of the world's largest nuclear dustbin
