When to recharge battries

I use a regulated mod. Is it better to wait until the mod tells me battries have been depleted and need to be charged?

Or can i constantly never allow them to get to that point and charge them up when its convenient for me and rarely allow them to get to the bottom limit?

As in charging when below half, say a few bars left on a daily basis.
A lot of mods will reduce power before the batteries get down to the device's cutoff voltage in order to keep the Amps down. As soon as the mod goes into its power saving op is the latest point at which I recharge. There's no reason why you can't recharge earlier than that if you want.

@RAPTOREX Confused why you quoted me but hey, the world hasn't stopped spinning so we move on.

It's pretty academic tbh but it really depends on the charger you use. Lithium batteries have an average age determined in cycles.

So let's say, just for example, that your battery has an average life span of 300 cycles. Most batteries have a 2.5v bottom limit so you should not drain a battery bellow 2.5v. Most regulated mods will stop firing before this cut off point. Many mods will stop firing at 3.1v or 3.2v because a battery at 3.1v at rest can dip below 2.5v when in use. If a battery was allowed to drop to 2.5v in a mod it could dip well below 2v when you fire the mod.

So charging a battery from its lowest allowed voltage (say 2.5v) to full is one cycle. Charging a battery that is half discharged to full is half a cycle. Charging a battery half discharged to full twice would equal one cycle. Whether you charge it in full cycles or multiples of part cycles makes no difference whatsoever.

What will effect your battery life is over discharging and over charging. Which is why your charger is important. Over charging your battery stresses it and will reduce the life span. Its important to have an accurate charger that cuts off at 4.2v.

You can actually increase your batteries life span and amount of cycles it can endure by only charging them to 4.1v. It will reduce the amount if time you can use them slightly before a charge is needed but charging them to 4.1v instead of 4.2v can as much as double the life span of your battery and the amount of cycles it can take.
