Why are 18650 batteries better than 14650?

I know I am going to eventually want to buy a tube mod and being a female with very small hands I am considering looking at some of the more ladylike options. However before I make any sort of decision I want to know how this might limit the performance of my device. If the compromises are too great I guess I would be willing to wander around looking like I have lost my relay team lol, but first I need to know what the compromises are.

14500 is little battery so wont stay charged for as long as 18650 which is bigger and fatter

Just in simple terms :)

Or half pint v pint, which takes longer to drink ;)

Carry a few spares if you do get a 14500 mod and you will be sorted for a night out with hwavy vaping :D

The two main conciderations are how long the batterys will last, and how much current they can put out. The 14500 are rated around 600mAh which give the measurement of how long they will last untill they need a charge, in comparison an average 18650 will be around 2000 mAh but can be up to 3400mAh. So the 18650's will last a lot longer befout they need a charge.
The second thing to concider is the current, it will depend on the brand of battery but genrally a 14500 will only be "safe" to vape down to about 1.2 ohms any lower and the battery could vent. With (some) 18650s you can use a lot lower ohm coils.
So if you dont want to vape below 1.2 ohms and dont mind changing batterys more frequently 14500 are cool.

yes and then you have the short and fat 18350 (which is the one I do prefer for mech mods) not to heavy not to light just seem just right for me

Thanks guys, that is kind of what I expected the answer to be, but I was really struggling to get to grips with the details.

I think it means I need to get in training for that relay team lol.

The difference in mah is much higher than I expected it to be and whilst it would be great to have a nice lightweight device the idea that I would also need at least one spare battery on my person rather minimises the advantages. Add to that the fact I already have an MVP which is limited to coils 1.2 and above and I think I would be limiting my options too much even if I don't really understand the advantages of lower ohm vaping yet.

mvp is not limite to 1.2 ohm, mvp will fire as low as 0.8. other variable mods such as sid and vamo will not fire below 1.2, there are many others that are the same but fail to remember the names

Thank you :) That goes to show how much I am still learning lol, I will get there though ;)

As Clonfuddled mentioned, 18350 could be the way forward. If you look at mods that are 18350/500/650 capable you then have the option of using differant sized batterys but with out the need for more than 1 mod.

I know. a lot to take in and so many different mods its makes your head spin (still does mine :D )

From what I have looked at so far I think if I go for a mod that takes the 18mm batteries then I would be best off looking for one that has a range of different battery cases, or one that has extra sleeves that can be screwed in position to lengthen the mod to accept longer batteries. Telescopic ones might be more convenient, but from what I have seen so far the telescopic mechanism significantly increases the external dimensions of the mod which is obviously something I would like to avoid.

Does that sound like sense?
