Why are wholesalers ignoring me?

Hi,

In the last couple of weeks I have been trying to setup a vaping online shop. I have everything setup apart from actually finding anyone to provide me with things to sell. I have contacted practically every UK based wholesaler for e cigarettes and not a single one has got back to me (one did but has not returned my emails all week so i assume they are have joined the rest and are also ignoring me). Is this standard practice in the vaping business or is everybody on holiday at the moment? I know that this is a busy time of year for a lot of vendors but it shouldn't take that long to return an email to someone who wants to do business with you.

You will quite likely find that UK wholesalers are very expensive too, margins are tight even when doing direct imports after you consider all the costs and a lot of UK places won't give you much wiggle room

my plan was to start with someone based in the uk so that i could have a quick turn around time and when business picks up i can start making larger orders from china. i would like to test the market first with less liability and progress once i have built my reputation.
