Shame...
TPD: End of an era by barf at 2016-05-16 16:40:45
As many of you are aware, the European laws regarding E-liquid are set to change this Friday (20th). Unfortunately these laws affect us rather significantly and leave us with no option other than to close our custom E-liquid mixer, stop mixing juice at point of sale and eventually close down completely.
As these regulations come into force, small vendors of boutique E-liquid are forced out of business by laws written by big pharmaceutical companies aimed only at protecting themselves and with no exceptions for smaller companies. Since inception 8BitVape has been dedicated to offering the middle step between store-bought entry level juice and DIY mixing, with the intention to help rather than dictate and promote science over rumour. However the real victim of the TPD is not us small businesses but the vaper who enjoys quality, great tasting juice with no fuss.
The custom E-liquid shop, Pre-mixed flavours and Community Mix section will close at 23:59 on Thursday 19th May. We are currently mixing all our remaining stock into batches of high quality and low price E-liquid which will be available whilst stocks last or until November when the laws fully come into effect.
The 8BitVape community will not go anywhere. It is our intention to release our entire database of mixes for free. We do not see these laws as a time to quit vaping, just the beginning of the age of DIY juice. I recommend everyone invests now in high quality nicotine base as this will likely be the only ingredient which will be regulated (and at the moment it looks like it will be available at least until November). We are working hard to provide guides to help people learn how to make DIY liquid themselves so you can avoid the forced corporate takeover of the homegrown vaping scene. Whilst we don't stand a chance fighting them as a company, we can all fight them with knowledge and you can save yourself money too. We highly recommend helping fellow vapers without DIY knowledge with juice.
Whilst it is with great sadness that we must announce this, I would like to take it as an opportunity to thank all our customers past and present. It has been a pleasure to serve and get to know you all. Special thanks go out to our IRC trollers, the Reddit's ECR and ECR_EU communities, all the forum posters that recommended us over the years, the Youtube reviewers and everyone I've had the chance to talk with via email, Mumble, Discord or anywhere else. You all mean the world to us and I hope you'll agree that we became one of the greatest little communities on the net anywhere.
If anyone has a custom mix that they don't want to be released (I know some of our community mixes ended up becoming mixes for other companies etc) either delete it now, or email us and I'll delete it for you. I recommend anyone with reward points remaining in their account uses them as soon as possible.
