A bit less of a monster

After the DAP, which was, lets face it, a monster. I feel the need to redeem myself with something a little tamer. Something to power my Aiolos while I'm out and about, and a gift for my brother to go with the Naturevape pro mini I've got him.

The two holes on the left are no good :(. The first one's wonky and the second is a bit oversize.

I've cut the wood for the 510 connector plinth and the top and bottom.

They will be un-regulated, LiPo power 1500mAh, that's still a 52A battery, so will safely take any build I throw at it :).

Cool. Wood has such a lovely tactile feel.

I much prefer to make things by carving a solid block. The DAP was a nightmare to keep square as it was made from boards.

Another update for mini number 1.

It's unregulated but switch electronics are fitted. Still need to add a charge port.

It will be much better rounded at the front and slimmer overall when finished. It should also be about 5mm shorter.

Loads of shaping and sanding left to do and I still need to fit the back wall.

Updates for number 2 still to come. That one will feature an Ego board!

Your mods are incredible. Have you ever thought about putting them into production?

Kudos for initiative...when I post mine you can critique it

I'm no critic. I love to see what other people come up with.

TYVM. But no I'd not put the wooden ones into production they just take too long to make. I'm looking into making a few of a variant of the monster in Hammond enclosures though.

Now that I would be interested in. I worked out that you could fit a 6 cell stack, much like the one you put in the monster, into the 1590a which would be quite a nice case for a sleeper mod.

Time for another update :)

I added the back wall last night and I've been sanding away like a man posessed today.

Everything including me is covered in sawdust. Big brother mod is there for scale, there's still about 5mm to come off the height.

I've cross drilled a 6mm hole just above the 510 for extra air flow and it's done the trick.

I've also got a charge port at the top at the back. I could have just about got a board inside, but it would have meant thinning the side walls and adding height, so I'm going to make a charging dock with a voltmeter built in I think.

Anyway here are the pics of progress:

I had a broken wire from the switch. Arrgh! But all fixed. Single core wires there now.

One down. One to go.
