So the dark tarry stuff is slowly being expunged from my body, I look back at my smoking history and how I am now smoke free.
In the early years it was a case of smoking anything I could get my hands on. Most brands of cigarette, cigars, cigarillos, I even smoked a pie for a while. I finally found a brand I could stick to and did for around 30 yrs.
Increases in taxation pushed me to rolling my own, but most of the hand rolling tobaccos just didn’t hit the spot. Another consideration was that I wasn’t any good at it. Ok, I’ll try a machine! Not bad but the tobacco is too damp to get a decent smoke. So I dried it a little, but when dried it was too fine, so add a coarser tobacco, now I was getting somewhere.
And that’s where I stayed happily smoking away my finely tuned cig. Buying packs of hand rolling tobacco then started to become expensive so an alternative source was found in Belgium.
And that’s how it continued for nearly 10 years until August 2013 at the age of 55, the wife and I set off on what turned out to be the last trip. We both agreed that by the time we’d used what we had, it would be harder to get the money together for another ‘baccy run’.
A few years ago I had to have a small operation, which meant a few days in hospital. How would I survive the time without a cig! I’d seen an ad for a cigarette sized cartridge type ‘electronic cigarette’. Well it did get me through the time in hospital, but was then put away. So, forward to the end of October last year, the wife says she would like to try to stop smoking. I had seen a newer type of E-cig in the tobacconist I used and thought that she should try one. So one ‘Tornado Tank compact starter kit’, and an e-liquid of her choice later, it all started. The wife was doing ok, she asked if I wanted to try it. She had a fruit flavour of 11mg it was mild for me. I thought ‘Maybe I should give it a try’. So another ‘Tornado Tank compact starter kit’ later and a tobacco 18mg liquid. I quite enjoyed it as an alternative and started to use it more and more. On the way trying different clearomizers and tanks. (The equipment list I’ll leave for a later post).I couldn’t say I stopped smoking on a particular date but looking back I’d like to think it was on the first of December.I tried a couple of cigs since, the last being on new year’s eve, both tasted revolting. If you’ve got this far, Thanks for reading. I just thought I’d share my experience.

I quit 19th of december 2013, so not long either, last roll up was 6pm that day, I didn't no it was my last roll up ever, wish I had coz I would of enjoyed it more, but haven't touched a roll up since even tho I have some tobacco stashed, I was only smoking for 11 years, 30 roll ups a day, sometimes 40 cigarettes if I was on a night out, because I'm female I hated smoking roll ups in public so has always been very expensive for me, I started to hate the not being able to breath in the mornings until i coughed my lungs up, and then my son started noticing my habit and said he didn't want me to die, so that was the last straw and I decided to quit, im so proud of myself and I hope I never have a set back, I am very determined tho, as I have had only 1 battery for bout a week now as my back ups have broke and I thought I would grab the tobacco but haven't, I have no choice but to stick with it as I can't let my kids down x

A very big congrats to you. For me ,giving up smoking was always a big deal, a huge life changing decision & was a difficult thing for me to do. Perhaps it's a little different for each individual but by my reckoning you have achieved a a hell of a thing. Hope it works out for you.

I can honestly say that I never ever thought I would go as long as I have without smoking even to the point of not liking the smell of them. It's like a miracle has happened. Congratulations on your journey so far. :)

Well done folks - my own two pence worth, I haven't had a cigarette in about two months. A couple who are good friends of mine got into vaping in a big way, bought lots of toys and took great delight in telling me all about them. I must admit, I was a bit resistant at first - how could anything take the edge off like a nice menthol rolly :-)
My girlfriend doesn't smoke, she always said she didn't mind and it was my choice but it was a pain to keep diving out to the conservatory for a smoke. I also don't like the stale smell smoking leaves everywhere, so I took the plunge and bought an eGo and a couple of flavours.
Well ......... To say it has had a positive effect on my life would be a gross understatement, I have now changed up to a Vamo V5, mix my own juices and have a whole new way to spend time tinkering!
The girlfriend loves it, I can vape in the house and don't have that hacking cough in the morning.
Anyway, take care folks :-)

one thing for me, my two year old twins have become very very cuddly with Daddy
we're not sure whether its the lack of fags
but it probably makes sense
last cigarette 13th december
never looked back
congratulations to us
