@Purplefowler Is this the sort of thing you mean? I've re-jigged it a bit and added an update at the bottom. It's still the original camera phone shots but I can redo those if you did want to use this. Especially the last snap, it's bloody awful!
Disclaimer: This isn't a proper review. There are enough, really detailed, excellent reviews out there from people who actually know what they're talking about. This is just a newbies waffle so please bear that in mind.
OK. So my new VTR was delivered yesterday following an impulsive, completely unjustifiable impulse attack of shinyitis.
I'd read, and watched, a lot of reviews of this thing, so was excited to see what it was really like.
First of all, the case.
Now, I don't think the reviews I've read have really made a big enough deal about the case it comes in. It's beautiful. I actually trembled when I slipped it out of the packaging.
I mean, just look at it, feast your eyes...
It's the sort of case that you shouldn't have to carry around yourself. Rather, ring a little bell and call for it to be presented before you, carried in on a velvet pillow by someone dressed in top hat and tails.
Seriously, I'd be chuffed if it was the official presentation case for a Ten grand watch, not an overblown e-cig.
It's a really nice box...
But, it gets better.
Because, when you flip open the clasp, and then the lid, the VTR itself is revealed.
I think it was at this point that I fell to my knees and wept. It's achingly beautiful.
The early evening sunlight streaming in through the windows, dancing and glittering on it's polished, silvery sides. Finely contoured edges arise from the deep, luxurious padding in the case like an iceberg poking forth from an inky Black sea. It looks ominous, powerful, but, above all...shiny.
Mmmmmmmmm...
Shiny....
I'm sorry the photos don't do it justice but, if David Bailley himself had taken the shots of it nestled in Kelly Brooks cleavage it wouldn't do this thing justice. Well, actually, it probably would, but I digress...
So, let's have a fiddle
OK, it's heavy, no denying that. But, I'm a big bloke, I didn't find the weight an issue at all, YMMV.
In fact, I like the weight of it, it feels heavy, solid and expensive, it's just a nice thing to hold.
Here's a side by side with the MVP. As you can see, not much in it, the compact fitting of the tank suits it really well and makes up for the slightly larger size. No hiding the weight of it though. Picking up the MVP after a few minutes of playing with the VTR nearly prompted me to get a brick to place on top of it lest it simply floated away.
The VTR came with an iclear 30S, which I was happy about, but thought I'd give the aerotank a go on it even after the disastrous experience with it earlier. So, with a nervous looking dog overseeing things, the aerotank was fitted in place of the iClear.
And, damn, it looks even better!
Gave it a go with the aerotank filled with the newly arrived snake oil, but I'm not sure what to make of that so thought I'd refit the iClear which was filled with fresh Digby's Hooligan.
I love the screen on this thing. It's just a plate of polished stainless:
Until you press a button when, by pure witchcraft (must be) it somehow turns it into a digital display. Very, very cool.
So...
"What'll it do mister?" I hear you cry. "What's it vape like?"
Well, just like the MVP, obviously!
It goes up to a far higher wattage, but that just fries the juice so the vaping experience is the same as the MVP. Both are capable of transporting me to my happy place, a World filled with swirling clouds of Disgby's custardy goodness.
But, the VTR is just sooooo much nicer to look at and hold.
Worth the extra money? after all, by the time you've bought batteries and a charger, it's over twice the price of the MVP. Well, that's down to you. It is to me. After all, I'm saving thousands on not smoking, plus my health, you can't put a price on that. So, if a new shiny thing keeps me going with it, it's money well spent.
Just a quick comment on testing it in the car.
Yup, it's fine. Although heavy, it's more discreet than the MVP and easy to use.
But, just make sure you when you're taking a vape that you don't run over a speedbump, or a pothole, or a caterpillar.
With all that weight of stainless behind it, it could remove your front teeth faster than spilling the big blokes pint in a Sittingbourne pub on a Saturday night.
So... nearly 3 Months on, am I still loving it?
Well, in a word, yes!
I do have more shiny things now but the VTR is still my everyday device.
It's got a fair few scratches, and the odd mark but it's still going strong.
It's normally sporting a V2 Aerotank these days but funnily enough, it's proudly wearing it's V1 today, just like it was back when this was written.
15 Watts is pretty underpowered really, for the money. But, it's rare I go above 11 Watts anyway. Much above that, and it just tastes burned in most clearomisers.
I tend to use more "fancy" kit in the evenings, relaxing after work. But, not all the time.
The VTR is still in service, day in, day out, keeping me off the smokes. And, doing it with style in my opinion. And, for that, Innokin... I thank you
