Just received the gold mixing starter kit from Alchemists Cupboard I have 100ml of 72mg in VG along with 100ml of PG, 100ml of VG plus some flavour concentrates from cappella - Green Apple, Raspberry,Blueberry and cool mint. I am looking forward to getting into the world of mixing and no doubt will have some questions. The first being that I want to vape at 60/40 PG/VG say for example, as the nic is in VG does the calculator take this into account when producing the final calculation? I have the android app btw. I just want to make sure I am doing things right. Another silly question - is there a recommended order in which to mix ingredients or does it really matter, ie, should I mix flavour with PG/VG first, allow to steep and then add to nic? As I said I want to get things right. Sorry if these are silly questions.

i know a lot dont add the nic at all when testing home made juices as the nic is the most expensive bit...i always do though cos i want it to all steep together :)

i never mix in a certain order and cant see it making a difference...

but dont foget to allow the ratio to account for the nic as you have it suspended in vg :)

Yay! and welcome to the world of mixing!

Start off with single flavours first. This way you can find the right % for your taste.

The POTV Ejuice Calc on Android, does let you choose your nic base as being VG or PG and does take it into account :)

As I mix by eye now and don't measure (since it's just for me and the OH anyways) I mix everything at once.

Just remember, you can always add to nic base, but you can't take away so start small. Around 15% for Capella and at least 3-5 days minimum steep with 7 days being about "perfect"

If its potv calculator then were it says base change to vg. I started with the same kit months ago enjoy :)

A good selection of flavours there As long as you dont go silly with the % flavour you should have some nice vapable results.
Is definitely a good idea to make some smaller amounts first but the good thing about diy is you can alter it after the fact.

Welcome to mixing. The POTV calc is the best I have used.

I always mix new flavours without Nic as stated above.. flavours change VERY slightly with nic added... but not enough to waste your nic on testing... I also found 5ml starting amount.. anything lest gave me wierd results, 5ml seems my ideal testing amount.

Also, buy a dripper for testing... as filling a tank and emptying to test another flavour is a pain in the ass.

Well I took the plunge.....started small just 5ml batches til I get used to it all. Made single flavours of each at 15%. The cool mint tastes of cloves or like the mouthwash you get at the dentists initially, so that's currently steeping ( 2 days now). Blueberry juice and Apple are also steeping and will give them a blast later tonite. raspberry at 15% has gone lol, found it really nice, kinda creamy bit like a mouthful of the jam in jammy dodgers, it might be worth trying to make it more tart. So tonight I thought I would get a bit more adventurous and mixed up a 5ml batch of Raspberry 10% + Blueberry 7% + Apple 4%, and have to say initially its delicious, the apple although in a smaller amount really kicks in on the exhale whilst you get the raspberry with the perfume of blueberry. I am going to mix another batch and let this steep in the hope the less prominent blueberry shines through more.....but first impressions......loverly!!! I have also knocked up other small mixes of each flavour and added small amounts of the mint, to see if the clovey tastes better with the fruit. I have ordered more flavours now too...Bavarian crème, Key lime, French vanilla, Spearmint and Peppermint......can see me really getting into this......love it.

New flavours arrived today.....feel a key lime pie type creation coming on!!!!! Thought I had ordered Bavarian crème but was wrong lol it was Belgian waffle.
