Aga t2 first setup probs

I'm having exactly the same issue, insane hotspot at the top of the coil. Pushing the wick closer to the centrepost didnt help, kinking the wire hasn't helped much either although it did fix the bottom hotspot i had. I've been recommended to get 0.5 x 0.1mm kanthal ribbon wire, and to put a washer on the centrepost, which would in effect make the lead-wire that's getting hot a lot shorter by being larger diameter than the nuts.

i just have to wait till payday to order the ribbon and some SS m2 washers. I'll also order a pack of those SS nuts as the ones on the AGA are way too loose on the threads

One tip I picked up for the Aga is to use the small cup like section of a vivi nova head (as in pic below) as a washer.

It helps shorten the gap between the wick and the centre post and since using this I have not had any problems with hotspots on these.

that's a nice tweak, i'll have to tear apart my dead nonrebuildable ce clearo to see if there is anything similar in that. failing that, what grade stainless steel is best for using in atties? anyone know?
