Another exploding battery story

The way I read it he didn't leave it on charge unsupervised. At least that's what he says

"The one that exploded had been left in my room," he said. "It wasn't on charge."

True but that does mention overcharged or in correctly charged batteries may cause a problem,.

Agreed. I was referring to one or two of the comments posted which suggest that if he hadn't left it charging unattended this may not have happened where in fact he says it was not charging when it exploded.

Doh! My bad.

I think the point about appropriate chargers/ keeping an eye on batteries under charge is valid though and the more people that get that message, the better.

I was on skype for over an hour with one of my suppliers yesterday just chatting about stuff and we got talking about the current state of ego devices over here. I essentially told him to hurry up and come out with a similar device type that isn't the same as there is no way to differentiate between poor eGo devices and good ones. He previously asked me about the CE marks needed on certain devices like their atomisers which didn't have them, I ordered 2 days later and the shipment arrived that week with the laser markings on so they are very proactive with this stuff.

I order in wholesale for another vendor who is a friend and on his last order he had a problem with one of the USB mains chargers causing a small fire in his customers kitchen, he had an electrician go and check it all over and sent the rest of the charger batch to a PAT tester. The electrician said that the kitchen wiring was incredibly old and could have started a fire with any device really and the PAT tester could not tell from what was left of the USB charger if that could have been a cause but from the rest of the batch they were all hunky dory.

Personally speaking though, my kitchen gets incredibly steamy and I wouldn't have even left one of these things charging where that risk is present. It does just go to show though that even those using the right chargers and decent kit that occasional problems can occur and it is not always down to the device in question. My friend has since ordered many more of the chargers and his customer was happy with the electrician saying their electrics was seriously out of date and needed a new socket at the very least - which he did for them. They have also bought more kit since too.

During the time that the investigation work was being done, my supplier contacted me every few days to get an update to see if there was anything they needed to put right with their product - THAT is how QC and service is supposed to be done by suppliers in China.
