What's new

Another intent quitter!

Hello mate, I don’t have a berserker but I use similar (mtl) tanks. You need thinner gauge wire, higher coil resistance and less power. That amount of watts is too much for the berserker. It doesn’t have enough airflow for it (to keep it cool) and will get too hot.

Ideally you want to be somewhere between 10-20w at the maximum. I would recommend picking up some plain 28 or 30 awg ss 316L wire and aiming for about 1Ω or thereabouts.

In the meantime, you could try using it as you have it set up at lower watts, it wouldn’t do any harm, or be dangerous. I’m not sure whether you’d get a satisfactory puff out of it but definitely give it a try to tide you over.

Hello @westylondon , Nice to meet you mate !!!

I`m new so i could be talking crap but isnt the vandy vape berserker for mtl, so coil should not be below 0.7 at lowest and a lot lower watts. ( it`s only from what i picked up on youtube - watched a vid - vaping with vic on the berkster )
No I think ur right mate, I did aim for above 0.7 but as I'm a novice I ended up with 0.224 so went along with it and it seemed to be ok but as I calmed down on the vaping I wasn't getting mtl as I first did so I've started again, this time using mental A1 28awg but now I've got jump ing ohms so the screwdrivers coming out again lol. Due to have the mtl super fine wire delivered today so I'll try again later and let you know how I get on, it's definitely all trial and error but I do like a challenge In the meantime if anybody could advise a build for the mtl super fine it'll much appreciated

I have a vandy that gets hot too.. I got a longer drip tip so lips etc further away from coils and hot bits..problem solved

The mtl wire isn’t any more suitable for your tank than the 28awg kanthal, it’s just a gimmick really. There’s not really such a thing as mtl wire, just wire that works ok in a tank. Most mtl people use plain wire at 28-32 awg.

With the mtl fused clapton youll want about 5/6 wraps round a 2.5 or 3mm id. If its the SS wire then itll be about .65ohms (keep in mind the ohms reading will likely change a little for SS when its being fired) the nichrome mtl flapton usually comes out with 5/6 wraps at about 0.7. Using a 3 mm id makes it VERY tight with the deck space so probably best to go with 2.5mm.....
What ohms calculator do you use btw?

Ah ok, so that explains the higher price, to be fair I didn't see the immediate benefit when I got it, if anything I just find it more difficult to work with, i'm finding the steel wire most forgiving so I think i'll stick with that until i'm more experienced,

Thanks

Thanks mate, i'm using the steam calculator atm, I have got the vape tool app but find the steam tool easier. The funny thing is when I did my first build I just used the 24awg kanthal A1 which came with the coil master V3 kit and it was spot on, only thing is as it was my first build and being a typical bloke I had the leaking issue so had to start again, ain't managed to get it right yet. dedicating today to coil building and based on everybodies advice i'm gonna use the thicker steel wire as I find it easier and i'll be sure to share my build once I get it right,

appreciate your help
