Anyone else had GOV High Risk email today?

So it's taken them 11 months for them to decide I'm on the High Risk (new name for clinically extremely vulnerable) list and told to shield from now on, also been put on the Vaccination priority list (having my first one today).

So why now? Is it due to the variants or have they decided they have killed enough of us now?

I checked the authenticity and it's legit.

Fortunately I have been shielding as much as possible anyway due to type 1 diabetes caused by an autoimmune disorder but this is the first time I've been advised to.

On the plus side, I get to go onto the home delivery priority list so I don't need to go to those pesky supermarkets

Yeah I missed that totally, makes sense now.

Though I did chuckle at:

Snap. Type 1 for 40 years with related problems and visually impaired, I have had no email etc. I did ask my Dr's to which i was told the Gov consider me not a high risk, the new ruling should mean i get asked soon, i have sheilded since last feb.

Seems pretty pointless to me.

1 month before sheilding ends when millions are vaccinated and numbers are plummeting as a result.

Would have been more effective a while ago but there you go.
