I've got a couple of Torchys 18650 batteries and am wondering what is the roughly the lowest safe ohm coil I can use with these? I'll probably get a couple of those 30A Sony's but would still like to have a rough idea. I've emailed Jim but no reply. The email must have been junked.

Anyone give me a rough idea of the Max discharge amperage of these?

Check his website, I'm sure I saw somewhere on there the amp limit of his own batteries :)

Anyone know where the best place is to get the Sony 30A batteries? I'd rather not get them from FT if possible. Thanks

There was a battery chart in this thread that was originally posted by Grimm Green recently.

Looking at that chart, most of the 18560 2000mAh batteries have a max discharge of 20A.
Do you think it would be ok to assume the Torchy ones are the same?
Obviously, I need to keep an eye on the heat of the units but would you use these for low to sub ohm vaping?

I appreciate the help

How low are you wanting to go?

4.1v (freshly charged battery) at 0.5ohms needs 8amps of current. You're not going to get 4.1v anyway cos of voltage drop (natural built in resistance of the mod itself)

Much less than 0.5 ohms and you are basically shorting the battery out.

See a great ohms law calculator page here.

I wouldn't assume anything about batteries. Send Torchy another mail and ask, I'm sure he'd rather have a couple of extra emails to deal with than someone have problems with a battery with his name on it by using it outside of it's design limits.
