Batteries for a K100

I am awaiting delivery of a K100 and I have a question regarding batteries. I am currently using a Vamo V3 but I've been told the batteries I use for this won't be suitable for the K100. Apparently it's better to have batteries with built in protection for a mechanical mod. Is this right?

no protected have a amp limit, you want imr (safer chemistry)which are also high drain, much more suitable for what we use them for
