Really need your help!

I've got those. They're good. Very good. Getting a bit blunt after a couple of years though, so I'm debating going for some of those ones @vapervince is on about

Something like these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fishing-Braid-Scissors-Cutting-Portable/dp/B0DCZH3PZ2

A little item, like this, can make average scissors mighty useful, even the ones that come in a Coilmaster set

Will defo give this a go if mine go bluntish, but the are fine tip top for now

@Netvaper thanks m8, it's this....

.....think there's a clue in the ohms per ft?

This calculator gives me 7 wraps.....

fwiw....just made another with 6 wraps (down from 8 wraps) and it comes out at 1.35ohms (target is 0.8ohms).......amd I doing something wrong? coil too tight or summit??

Online calculator suggests 7 wraps (someone advised 8 wraps)......I'm below both, I'm confused 🤔

I'm getting better, this one fires almost instanly on a puff! I suppose I'll just keep lowring the wraps until I get somewhere near 0.8, no biggy.

Those look more like pliers, the ones I have look like normal scissors, you may need to make a trip to a carp angling stores so you can see what you`re buying, they`re common enough, the Korda ones on ebay look like the right ones

That`s the way, trial and error, the numbers are just a guide, it`s what comes out of the drip tip that tells you when it`s right.

I'm trialling & erroring through several xfkm spools atm. I've not found the 0.5 ohm build yet but I'll get there. I find little shears cheap, small & practical for cotton cutting. Good luck with it.

New forum user so big hi to everyone!
I've been vaping for nearly ten years now and make my own juice (need a change of recipe though as it's making my mouth 'sting' nowadays) but I'm far from expert!
My question is, due to cost and unreliability of commercial coils, I want to start making my own.....this is where I need your help if you'd be so kind.
I vape at a low 10 watts, 0.8ohms MTL using a Voopoo DragX. It's been pretty good but hate the way the tank (magnetic) is soooo keen to just drop off at the slightest excuse!

1> Is vaping at such a low wattage (and at 0.8ohms) viable in regards to making my own coils??
2 > If so what do I need in terms of wire (keeping it as simple as possible) and cotton (shoestring?)......seen coil making tool kits on Amazon (ceramic tweezers etc) I could purchase of those.
3> And the BIG question.....what would be a suitable (reasonably cost effective) 'buildable' platform with adjustable airflow??? (I have a few flathead 'Efest' 3000 mAh 35A 3.7V batteries I use in the DragX)

Many, many thanks for any advice or help offered. This really is a minefield for a complete newbie to try and navigate! :)

Cheers
Bob
Hey Bob! Totally doable to start building your own coils for that setup. For low wattage (10W) and 0.8 ohms, Kanthal or Ni80 wire in 28 or 30 gauge is a great choice. Thinner wire heats up faster, so it works well at lower power. As for cotton, shoestring (pre-threaded) cotton can make wicking easier, especially when you’re starting out.

For an MTL rebuildable with adjustable airflow, the Aspire Nautilus Prime RBA or Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA are solid, affordable options that should fit well with your batteries. Both are easy to build on and offer good airflow control. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love the flexibility and savings. Good luck, and happy building!
