Battery charger question

will a charger (xtar SC1) rated at 2a still charge (at a slower rate) if plugged into a 1a supply?

E.g. A 2a charger plug with 2 USB sockets with both phone and charger plugged in to it at the same time


Also does charging at higher amp have any effect on battery life or charge cycles?

yes, it cant charge anything at a faster rate than what is supplied to it

No not really, most cells on their supplied data sheets (for companies who use them) they often state up 2amp some more depending on the cell, above it may decrease the longevity of the cell

I use an armour pro with a samsung 21700 30T and charge it in the mod, no issues for more than 6 months, i charge at 1A mostly but when in a rush at 2A. The battery behaves perfectly.

Current is the other way around to voltage. Current does not exist without a load. If the charger only draws 1A then you can feed it with 100A , it will draw the 1A and that's it. If a device is capable of charging at 2 A and you give it only 1A it will charge slower, most of the cells will enjoy being charged a bit slower at lower current.

Just read on the vendor forum that fogstar include a free 18650 torch or battery charger to comply with Royal Mail regulations.

Does this mean if I order 2 x 21700s And some wraps Iwill get a charger since they won't fit the torch?

Think he's run out or stopped for a while. The torch, if he sends one, takes 18650 batteries & the charger was either single or 2 cell usb charger. Don't expect a freebie but be nicely surprised if you do get one. Most apes use Fogstar because of his service, not freebies.
