Best thickness of copper plate for wooden mech?

I am in the early stages of designing a wooden mech or two.
I plan to build a dual parallel 18650 with some nice bur elm I have been given.
I want to use two copper strips for the battery contacts and use them to make some sort of direct contact switch.

I am after any advice on the best thickness to go for.
My current thinking is that 0.5mm would be easy to bend and work with but that something closer to 1mm would perhaps be springier and make a better mechanical switch.

Any thoughts about this or any factors I have not considered ?

Assume you've seen Matt's efforts at M-Vapes? Only thing puts me off about that is that the contact point is the sharp cut edge of the copper strip - I'd be happier were that a flat, solid contact patch. Also the wood button, would prefer a brass cover to it for better wear, but that's just me. Good luck, hope to see pics when finished...
