Best thickness wire for flavour and vapour

I've been geting dry hits, probably from my dodgy coil making so I thought I'd try thicker wire.
I was given some pretty thick stuff, obout .4 I reckon so I built a 10 wrap coil which came out at about 1.2 ohms. No more burnt hits which is nice and good vapour but the flavour isn't quite there. They take a while to heat up so I'm wondering if coils don't get hot enough, does the flavour not come out as much?

So i'm finding the my:
1.9 ohm 4 wrap 0.2mm gives better flavour than
1.2ohm 10 wrap 0.4**mm

Do you think this wire is too thick?
I've got some 0.28mm coming so it'll be good to see what heat gives the best flavour.

You will probably do best by using the .28 to make a microcoil with a cotton wick - flavour and vapour in one fuzzy little package...

The best wire depends on what you're using it for. It gets quite complicated, thinner wires heat up faster but give less coverage. Less lag time is good.

For a given resistance thicker wires give more coverage and more coverage is excellent on a silica wick, doesn't matter quite as much on a SS Mesh wick (as the SS conducts heat better than silica) but is still good.

So the best wire size is somewhere in the middle and depends on how much power you're sending to the coil and also how much space you have to work in.

0.2 to 0.25mm works best for me in an PT build - for everything else I use 0.32mm which I'm finding to be a good middle ground.

Edit to add: also if you're using a Genesis like an RSST with a vertical wick then the wick plays a big part as well. There is also this thing that happens called the volcano effect where a hot tubular wick can cause a lot of e-liquid to come up through the wick - lots of which ends up all over your top deck, but if the coils are hot enough more of it gets vapourised and you get more flavour/vapour. I found on my RSST builds that filling the SS mesh with silica really helped.

Dry hits on a Genesis build = hotspot(s) or poor wicking.

Thank fella. I'm coming to the same conclusion. I think the .28 will be perfect for a couple more wraps. Appreciated.
