Raguri has politely declined but has indicated, if I interpret him correctly, that what's been done should have no adverse affect on the overall flavour performance.

If I have anything useful to add to this thread in the future I will do.
Standard clone is performing really well with 55% VG juice with most any coil and wick combination. I'll try a few tanks of the same through the bored-out clone and see how she is for leaks.
puffinclouds I am not best qualified to assess exactly how much if any difference there is in the overall airflow because as Tubbyengineer says it is ultimately determined by the internal diameter of the centre post. In other words drilling the outer airlflow may not have achieved anything with the standard centre post.....and may or may not affect the performance of the 4S kit if it ever arrives from FT.
