Big Issue news piece

I have to say i agree with the Majority of that, vaping as a whole shouldn't be affected by disposables and there use.

Bullshit:

“The majority of people who are ex-smokers have quit through just stopping, or through other schemes like gums, patches, and help from their GP,” said Young.

i see your point and initially thought that myself, but the statement is unqualified and a bit vague. if she’s talking generally in the history of fag smoking, then it’s definitely the case. the last ten years, then i think maybe not.

Then she should have said something like: “The majority of people who are ex-smokers used to quit through just stopping, or through other schemes like gums, patches, and help from their GP,” said Young.

I think 10 years is probably a bit borderline - I would reckon somewhere between 5 & 7 would have seen the tide turn.

Agreed - utter botty twoddle that was - this is trying to influence an outcome by attempting to twist the facts with a more favourable narrative.

a more accurate way to put it, if this is actually what she meant, would be something like “most of the people who have quite smoking over history have used blah blah methods. but in the last five to seven years e-cigarettes have overtaken the other methods as a successful means of quitting” etc etc

aye, that seems right. it would include me at the outside edge and i think this was the period you’d start to see it. when decent devices became widely available, probably.
