Biggest daily jump in UK coronavirus cases

Over 12k new cases recorded in 24hrs & 49 more dead. Here we go again. :12:

BBC News - Covid: UK announces more than 10,000 daily cases for first time
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54404561

According to the news this morning the reason for this is that there was a delay in reporting new cases, and other data during the last week in Sept / first week in Oct.
So when this was noticed it meant that a weeks worth of data was added into that one day.

time to buckle up and get ready by the looks of it :( cheers for posting mate :)2 i know a dude that works with my missus has come into contact with someone who tested positive for CV so hes off self isolating and waiting on his test results

I spoke to a guy yesterday from my old job in England and he told me that in one area with about 35 people working, 11 of them tested positive. They've shut the place for two weeks to give it a deep clean and told everyone to isolate until they reopen.

hows corona in Poland mate ?

It's been quite relaxed up this end but I think it's on the increase a bit in the larger cities. There's a lot of space here and a lot of fresh air which helps. Everyone still wears masks in shops, museums, bars etc, anywhere enclosed really. Hopefully it won't take such a strong hold as it has in the UK

Is it fair to generate such sensationalist headlines? Back in march april they reckon there were over 100,000 infections a day but they werent identified due to the pitifully low testing numbers. I just wonder if we were testing back then at the current(takes huge pinch of salt) 250,000 tests a day we would have a very different take on the current numbers...Dont get me wrong im in no way trying to diminish the current situation more trying to add some perspective

I would strongly recommend people listen to more or less, the stats program on Radio 4 its very good it giving the perspective and context often missing in the mainstream

Nothing sensationalist about it. Even during the biggest lull in confirmed hospital cases there were still as many as 30k daily community infections (according to our Gov). Even with an R of 1.6, as some are now suggesting, the maths speaks for itself.
