Birmingham firm Nicolites in talks to have e-cigs classed as medicines

Not surprised to be honest, the only way this pile of shit will become popular. Personally they are in the right vein to become NRT products, as they are totally useless!

But then, when people get the cigalikes and realise they are crap, they could very well move onto Gen2+ gear!

A work mate bought a cig-a-like kit. For £55 he got a charger, a battery and 10 cartridges. His fags wouldn't have cost that much. When he saw my SVD/protank and told him I make my own juices and it only costs me 80p a week the look on his face was priceless.
He went back to smoking after the cartridges ran out.

And yet he still went back to smoking after you told him that?
This is exactly why there needs to be much better awareness of the better vaping products available so people know there are other options besides piss-poor cigalikes.
A ban on advertising anything other than medically approved cigalikes will do massive damage to the vaping industry.

Look at it like this. Before long the government are going to allow a defined class of electronic cigarette into the nhs along with their nrt products, it's gonna happen & that's that. So what should concern us then ? Well if there is going to be such a devise then 'yes' Nicolites ought to qualify quite well for the masses.
I would rather see that type of device sitting there as a uk quit smoking aid than anything else. It looks like a cig, the build quality is very good & it's as safe as things come for the new beginners world. Actually my first e-cig was a nicolite disposable followed closely by the rechargeable version, those & a 'Vapestick'. They were the only fully visible/ easy access devices where i live.

In the end though i can't see anyone being able to use that kind of devise as an ongoing one. A giving up aid yes, & that should be their angle.
Those things got me off the cigs & i thought at the time that i would be able to carry on with them so there's something in it.

If the medical industry & government go for that kind of product then i say good. All we have to look out for is which parts of the legislation controlling it will efect the rest of us who can eat those little nico-chipmunks for breakfast.

Can someone clarify something for me please , From where is our nicotine derived ? I'm struggling to understand...Just tell me it's not from baccy please.

I'm afraid (my reckoning) it does....and mostly from china. Tobbaco is easily grow, has way more nicotine than any other plant. The next highest container of nic doesn't come anywhere near tobacco. But the point is... you're not burning it, so even as minute the "other" bits left in it, it doesn't matter.
I agree with a Previous post, let the nhs have the nicoshytes, if they're going have a type of ecig.

I'd imagine the vast majority does come from tobacco.. which is why there are still tobacco specific nitrosamines present in the vapour produced... and also why the WHO are positioning themselves to classify NCPs as being tobacco products.

Well regarding the nicolites thing, They likely will take it on & from our point of view that's no skin off our nose because we don't use those. On the other hand though, why the hell should the nhs provide anything of the sort ? I mean, it was controversial when they made nrt available to the general public anyway, some people who have never smoked but still pay their stamp end up funding something they shouldn't have to. On the other side of the coin we all pay for things we would rather not. Personally i think that smokers should seek & fund their own nrt or just give up smoking completely, it would relieve the nhs of some pressure. Prescriptions are free in wales you know ! Imagine how much that costs evryone. I never had to pay for my champix & i had two courses in two years.. Thanks taxpayers for the free but unsuccessful drugs that i didn't have to pay for !

Trouble is with nic is that if the nicotine is derived from a tobacco plant it makes it very easy for the powers that be to simply classify it as such. So while it's not smoking & i would argue that for an eternity, it blatantly IS a tobacco derived substance & therefore they will classify it as such.
