What's new

Brand new kick lasted less than 2hrs :(

Keep at it DakotaMai Won't be many days before you are a kick free, reckless, mech mod vaper and just bung your atty on and vape the fekker regardless of ohms, watts, volts and/or any relevant physics laws. :yahoo:

Thank you...I'm having a crappy run with it at the mo. I can get vapable but nothing special. Maybe I'm trying to hard, maybe I've just not found that perfect build yet...but I'll keep trying until I do

You could also try lowering your pg levels, this could reduce harshness but will also reduce flavour, or perhaps your nic levels,

I did think about lowering PG as I vape 50-50 but flavour is the most important factor for me. I only vape 6mg now. What I'm experiencing is that the vape is either is either perfect on the heat/throat but the flavour is muted, or perfect flavour but vapour is hot and harsh. I get a nice cool flavoursome vape on my Evod with a very thin res no res 1.8ohm coil at 4.1v but I can't seem to replicate that vape on the kayfun...at least not for more that a couple of mins.

I am using 28g on the kayfun and gave tried a range of builds from 1.1-1.7ohm but I don't seem to get any consistent results. I find the 28g takes forever to heat up, but the res no res I have is too thin to be able to rewick without destroying the coil!

Knowing me, I am probably making life difficult for myself and over analysing. Also, knowing me, I'll get there eventually!!

when's your dripper going to get there? you're pouring all this time and effort into a kayfun and you're just going to sack it off when it comes. dripping is the future :)

i am however keeping an eye on how you get on because my mate's waiting for a few replacement bits for a taifun he bought and then i'll have to build that for him.

How many wraps are you working with, with the 28g? And what size mandrel?

Magma on way from FT, should be here this week. But I'm worried I'm going to have the same issue there too!!

I am using a 2mm bar...but I have 1.5 and 2.5mm bits too.

I have tried from 6/7 to 9/10 wraps on the 2mm

Hi Vic,

Good to see your persevering love.

You will suss it.

The only way to combat the heat is either increase air flow, or increase coil resistance.

However as you have discovered increasing coil resistance will make the build produce less flavour / vapour.

As you do not like it at higher resistance then you have to work out how to increase airflow.

Firstly, make sure your coil is directly over the air flow hole in the deck.

Also helps to lift the coil a bit to maximise airflow coming through the deck.

Do not overwick.
If your coil is stuffed full of cotton and is not pulled up, your wick could be restricting the air flow.

By doing so it will increase the heat and reduce flavour and vapour.

Last of all you can try a vertical "chimney" coil which is well suited to the Kayfun.

YouTube Kayfun chimney coil and you should find a few.

A device like the Magma makes this an easy excercise as it has adjustable airflow so you can adjust to suit.

Good luck :)

In my experience a mech will happily go to 1.6 and even 1.8 on a fresh battery.

My go to build is 1.4 which works great on my mechs.

What sort of build do you use for 1.8? My ideal build for a Kayfun on regulated is 1.8 using 0.3 Kanthal, but my mechs struggle with this.

You're thereabouts. Try 6 wraps round your 2.5mm bar, it will allow a for thicker wick and reduce any burning.
