Built my first micro coil!

Thought I'd share my first attempt at building a micro coil on my trident v2 (clone). It went OK but my cheap blowtourch lighter kinda melted on me when I was trying to heat up the coil to make it compact, so that didn't help! I'll have to buy a proper blowtouch - probably one of those kitchen ones.

Also I guess I did too many wraps (13) as it's come out as 2 Ohms! I've used cotton ball as a wick for the first time too and it does vape really nicely.

I used 0.3mm Kanthal. Can anyone recommend how many wraps I should do if I'm aiming for around 1.4 Ohms? I don't want to go too low just yet but 2 Ohms is a bit higher than I wanted!

Here's the pics...

looking good, recently got a trident v2 clone myself and im liking the way it vapes, 7-9 should get you to around where you want to be

Instead of using a blow tourch lighter, just wrap your coils around a drill bit as closely together as you can. Then install the coils in your atty and fire them until they get red hot. Once their hot, use a pair of tweesers to "squish" the coils together, holding it there until the coils cool down again. Do this a few times and you should be left with a set of micro coils that where the wraps are all touching eachother and the coils heats up from the inside out nicely.

+1 on this method bought a cheap blowtorch but found it too much of a faff, will prob change my mind when I get my ecig workbench sorted :)

I have a gas cooker. No need for a blow torch...
