I've been messing about with Capella caramel; on its own and as a mixer.

I find it nothing like caramel with a really hard sort of chemical taste that overpowers everything it gets near. Steeping does nothing good to the flavour.

Other Capella concentrates I've used have been OK by and large so I'm surprised. Perhaps I got a dud batch.

Any thoughts or suggestions for an alternative please? Just something that just tastes like sweet caramel without too much fiddling about is what I'm after.

weird....
i'll have to doublecheck...but i've been playing about with caramel for the last 3 or 4 weeks...i'm sure it's capella and i'm finding it quite good...almost the exact opposite of your experience...
I'll check when i get home later.
Using it between 2-4%

I think it's a marmite thing, i have Capella caramel and quite like it, my brother hates the taste though.

Inawera caramel is very good, lovely and dark almost like bonfire toffee colour. Perhaps that's worth a try.

I find that when the Caramel gets a little harsh, butterscotch is lush and if the butterscotch gets sickly, the Caramel becomes lush. :D

mmm, I find 1 or 2% adds a bit of depth to custard, not found it harsh. Taste's a funny individual thing though.

I'm not happy with the taste of F'art's Caramel ... it's interesting how often Inawera's name comes up in recommendations, not just Caramel I mean.

I don't vape custards but a lot of tobacco and often caramel is recommended as a blender with tobacco ... all I get from caramelised tobaccos is lamb hotpot!! Go figure that one!

I'm new to all this but whenever I get "chemical high notes" hitting out of the bottle I let it breathe off for a few hours, 5-6 hours, then steep again. This seems to round the flavour off in a way steeping alone doesn't seem to. Feel free to ignore that though ... I know next to fuck all and it could be all my flavour disappearing into the room. :)

I've got Capella Caramel, I'm not a fan even in small amounts. What has worked for me is Cloud9's Dulce De Leche (but it's OOS at the minute - just checked) but I've heard great things about LorAnn's Dulch De Leche too if you can get that.

Lamb hotpot? Interesting - I saw someone mention "gravy" was all they could taste with RY4. I have some finished juice here from VaperCaper - it's called Caramel Tobacco. I don't like tobaccos as a rule but it's unputdownable. Real creamy caramel and a lovely hint of dark tobacco - very clever mix.

Thanks for that, I have some PA Dulce de Leche here which I've just sniffed. I think I shall play with it on the weekend - strange though, it also has a faint chemical whiff which I don't remember when I last used it. I'm starting to suspect my nose needs a tune up.
