Coil Master 521 Tab

Who has one?
Are they worth it?
Are they jub?
Input appreciated.

Personally I think mine's shit. Bought it directly from CM and I've found it inaccurate, unless my other ohm meter, and several mods are all wrong. I was constantly having to strip mine and re tighten a nut because the 510 mount kept coming loose,, especially after dry burning at higher temps. Handy to build on, I just don't rely on it too much.

I don't own one but (and because) ....

Every time I see one used on the tube they are either flat, or seem to struggle with a lack of power ... some reviewers note that a dual battery option would be good.

For me I'd like to see a USB connection so you can draw an amp (or more) ... that'll get the coils into line :whipping:

Never saw the point in these, it's just a mech mod basically, imo it's a lot easier just to try burn your coils with a regulated device and that way you have control over how many watts your putting to the coil. plus its better for colours if you're into that type of thing

I use the pilot vape version and i love it. It saves me time it saves me hassles and pilot vapes version reads ohms down to 0.1 and because its so cheap from gearbest its a must for me but each to there own

I haven't used mine yet but I got the Pilot one too while it was cheap on GB.

Seems to be good and accurate but only time will tell.

I'm the odd man out as per usual. :D
I recently acquired one from the classifieds having watched Qorax using one and then exchanging a few emails about it with him. On a personal level, I really wish I had bought one far earlier on, it has made coil building so much easier for me that I actually enjoy doing it again. Health issues had begun to make even a simple coil considerably harder to make than it was before. One of the unhelpful symptoms is an increasing tremor in the fingers, wrists and forearms, which increases tenfold when I am concentrating on doing anything fiddly. This had reached the point where I was beginning to realise that my entire vaping was becoming in grave danger of having to potentially abandoning my beloved RTAs and switching to those hateful and expensive Ready Made jobs such as you use with Nautilus etc. This too, would have meant I'd have to cut back on my favourite Liquids as they have the capacity of killing these Ready Mades far too quickly. So if I am honest, things have been looking more than a bit dire.

Enter the Coil Master 521. :worship::worship:

This device has changed everything. At last, a solid and reasonably weighty device that stays where I put it, holds everything perfectly still on the platform and makes the whole process so much easier for me. Using one of the cheap ft Mandrel Coiling Rods to wind the coil, then transferring that onto a Coilmaster Rod and sitting that between the positive and negative posts ...... and job done. I love the ability to check my ohms as I am building and adjust as necessary without having to get involved with taking things on and off different mods etc to do the testing, then being able to Test Fire, again, without having to move anything...... Tremendous.:)

OK, I do not vape at high wattage and invariably I seem to always end up with builds at between .8 up to 1.4 ohms depending on the Atty. So I cannot speak for those that require considerably higher power. But for MY purposes, it has been an absolute Life Saver.

Perhaps not the most vital piece of kit you'll ever buy under normal circumstances, but for my unique requirements, I couldn't build anymore without it.

Put it this way? I can build a Calix up from cleaned component parts, to finished and fully functioning in about 5 minutes or perhaps less. Without it to assist....... more like 15 to 20 minutes on a Good Day.

I've got a V1 which I think had some problems so got revised but it has problems with some atties based on the length of their pin (and just does anyway sometimes). Mine caused me a real balls ache when I put a build in one of my nano Calix and the tab was jumping the ohms reading all over the place, I did 7, yes 7 new builds as I couldn't see any short and everything was tightened down.

Eventually I thought fuck it, put the build on a couple of different regulated mods which read the coil with a rock solid 0.29 ohms so it was just the 521 being a twat!

Strange thing is when I rewicked the coil I stuck it on the tab again and it gave a steady reading, albeit 0.01 out from the mods.

Anyway enough waffle, to sum up, they're good for building on but I wouldn't rely too much on their accuracy. Also as said by somebody else, if pulsing a TC build, using a regulated mod gives far more control.

I also use the pilot vapes version, having upgraded from the one that came with the coilmaster kit and think it was a worthy upgrade. There are quite a few of my drippers which I build under 0.1 so accuracy was becoming increasingly important and so far this has been spot on every time. I also appreciate being able to go through all the build stages without having to switch between reader and mod to pulse. no regrets.

Thanks for the replies,
I get by building on my regs but I have found a bargain and have always liked the look of it.
Fancy checking my voltage drop on my mechs, I am aware that hybrids can't be checked.
I am also going to get a hybrid Heron eventually and this can check the resistance with the crocodile leads.
0.2Ω minimum firing should be OK unless I go doolally listening to the cloud chuckers on this forum.
Itchy trigger finger.
