Hi everyone!! First of all, I'm not sure why there's numbers to the left and I can't seem to change them on my phone! Oh well! See post below:
  1. I have a Geekvape Aegis Legend mod (200w). I am using it with an Eleaf Ello Duro tank, with the HW-M coils which are rated 50-100w. I usually vape at 80w (which is also the recommended wattage for this coil.
  1. Okay, so when I first bought the tank I popped in the HW-M coil, primed it up and left it for a few minutes, and it was fine! It actually lasted me 2 weeks of very regular vaping!

The issue I'm now having, having now ordered some replacement coils, is that after about 3 hits the coils are already tasting burnt. I thought it was the fact I was using different liquids, so I reverted back to the one I was using when it lasted me 2 weeks, but it still tasted burnt after a few hits!

Before ordering these new coils, I popped in the second coil the tank came with (HW-N 40-90w) and it only lasted 24 hours.

Ive tried the first 3 coils in my replacement pack and they are all doing the same thing so I'm fairly certain it's not the coils that are the issue, nor can it be the liquids that I am using, as they were all fine before!

I need help, as I am beginning to become very frustrated due to the fact I cannot vape!!

What could possible be causing this issue? The mod is on the same settings as it was originally on. The only thing that I can think of is that I have dropped the mod a few times, but it all seems to be fine (only a few scratches). Batteries also seem perfectly fine.

    Ugh, someone help.

When I 1st started vaping I had the Cleto tank and the coils were all ways hit and miss as they were made in China the quality control is not the best so it’s probably the same for your tank when it comes to making these so I think you have been very unlucky to get a hole pack of duds but it possible were did you buy them

I got them from Vape UK. Find it strange that the second coil that came with the vape seemed to have a similar issue, so did one that I bought from the shop. They at least lasted a few days (I still thought that was rubbish!). Whereas these are burning after a few tokes!! :(

@Brad Ripley im sorry to hear that and hope someone with abit more experience of that coil can help but I do think it’s a pack of duds as they come in a sealed pack even vape U.K. wouldn’t be able to tell if they were duds just a thought looked at the coils and 80w is about the maximum for it you could drop the wattage abit to see if that helps

Seems very unlikely (and unlucky, as you said) that all 5 in the pack would be duds?

My first port of call is to try and find one of my old tanks and try that one with the mod, just to determine if the mod could be the issue.

ok old boy it’s worth a try hope you get it sorted

welcome to the planet.
the ratings of any coil and the best between must really be taken with a pinch of salt.
i would suggest trying 50-60watts max and see how long the next one lasts at that wattage. also after priming start low or at half power and then turn up after every few puffs so as to let the juice fully bed into the cotton. ive not used or seen them coils so they could be very tightly packed like some shite smok coils and even 70vg juice can struggle.
high sweetened juice are also coil killers.
the worst ive had was 3 duff coils in a box of 5 so it can happen but not that often.

another thing worth mentioning thats been brought up is that if a coil burns out and the juice gets contaminated with the burnt taste then the next coil may be ok but it might taste burnt as its in the juice. do you just change coil and and continue using the same juice that was in the tank.

also not sure of your mod so does it have a soft, normal, hard setting.

I've been using the coils at 80w for a month and the other coils were all fine, plus the manual actually recommendeds that wattage to get the best out of the coils.

I always clean out the tanks after each coil. So with those 3 I've tried, it's all with new liquid poured in.

My mod has wattage setting, temperature, TCR and all that stuff that I am unsure of how to use lol! I stick to wattage setting!

scrap that idea then :)
personally wattage is best. 3.5 years here and tried TC twice and always gone back to wattage.

i have no idea then :(

Right, I've just tried 60w and I managed 7 tokes before I started tasted burnt. It just seems like the coil is getting very hot, whereas with the original coil it came with, I was actually impressed with how cool the tank always stayed. It never seemed to get hot at all. But considering now it's managing less tokes the higher the wattage, it must be a heat issue, surely?
