Ok so I need some guidance:

I have a HANA with a fat daddy conversion, the boards gone pop. I can see the melted chip.

So im handy with the tool, but i would like some guidance as to how i go about ripping the guts out but leaving the fat daddy in tack, what do you guys do to remove all this dam hot glue?

I want to convert to the new 40wat board .

Any advise would be much welcomed :)

I know Duffloop has done one recently, I'm sure he's git a few suggestions. Please post pics of the progress

White spirit or isotropyl alcohol on cotton buds - apply to edges of hot glue
This loosens the blobs from the case

I then gently prised it away with a very small screwdriver

Some of the glue had gone to resin and that breaks up if you're careful

I also used wd40 contact cleaner spray (not normal wd40!) works same

Let's see some pics!

I have just now used the srew driver method lol, scuffed the edges a little big got the fa daddy conection out in tack, but buttons got ragged.. time for a shopping list of parts.

Some shopping questions:

what wire to use?

Can i use same wire all around? or need different AWG for battery connections to say buttons?

And i cant find any better fire buttons, that a)don't require drilling b)don't protrude

Hairdryer is the best way to do it.

Have you not looked at the DNA 40 spec sheet?

Page 9

or on here (see bottom of pic)

I went for 20awg for the ground, atty and battery

22 for the USB

24 for the buttons

BUT in retrospect I think I'd go for the min spec next time round - just for flexibility.

EDIT: Actually prob best not to go below 20awg for ground, atty and battery given that recommended is 18awg (but thats a pain to attach)

Get silicone wire - much more flexible, cheap here:

now you tell us ;-)

EDIT: damn I haven't got a hairdryer!

Sorry, I have only just seen this thread too. I use a hot air gun, be careful with the switches though!

If you take a look down the MOD making section Darthpistachio has made an excellent little kit for mounting the DNA40 into the Hana. I have just recieved some through and they look the great.
I think he still has some left.
