What's new

Curious....is it a design flaw?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes ...... and YES!

This is the reason I don't like tube mods, why I prefer dinky mods like the Pico (less top-heavy, especially with a dinky tank) and why I really do still prefer a pipe mod above all others. I have five elderly cats at the moment, one leg 2" shorter than the other and I work somewhere where the surroundings are constantly shifting and heavy furniture and boxes get lugged about. Nothing around me is ever all that stable ....... YES!

My little Kamry pipe is like a Weeble in a roomful of skittles, bet yours is too! :D

Yeah...but even the Kamry keeps falling to it's side too! Now...i could simply lay it on it's side anyway...but the OCD side of me wants it's sitting upright....*sighs*.

It's ergonomics though ain't it? Something that's bulky and won't fall over will be uncomfortable to hold.

True..but i have thought, but have wondered what a mod with horizontally placed batteries would be like, for those that take tanks. The centre of gravity would be lower, and only slightly wider for those designed to take 2 batteries. Wouldn't work as well on single battery & squonker mods, admittedly...but i'm sure something could be done to make less prone to toppling.

True, there’s probably nothing worse, I’m sure someone will correct me though :)

They do make almighty racket when they fall over! Makes my mum jump everytime i knock one of mine over!

You accept there are likely to be more stable mods available, so it seems that it is not so much a design flaw with your mods but that you are choosing the wrong mods for your personal preferences. As well as mods with more cells there are also mods where the cell and atty are side by side, making them less top heavy.

I only use 22mm tube mechs that are probably less stable than your boxes. I like the comfort in the hand of tubes and it does not bother me that I knock them over on a fairly regular basis. It bothers me so little that I rarely use the stands I have made or the pots I have bought that do prevent them being knocked over easily.

True..but seeing as i'm mainly a MTLer...i have no need of a 300 watt triple battery mod!

Snakebite's suggestion of building or buying some sort of tray to put them in...might solve the problem for general use in the home, perhaps.

I never knock them over. You lot are obviously a little clumsy. One solution might be to sellotape a brick on to the bottom of it. Or attach velcro strips to the base and only put it down on fabric surfaces. Maybe give it a try?

I'm half blind...of course i'm clumsy!

Anyhoo...thanks for the replies folks, glad i'm not alone on this....guess i'll see if i can make up or get something to stick on the side of me bedside cabinet..to remedy this annoying issue.
