Capella Vanilla Custard seems to be the base of just about every custard recipe out there, i'm getting sick of the smell to be honest.
I recently got a bottle of Perfumer's Apprentice Vanilla Custard and it smells wonderful, currently got a batch steeping away in a drawer. The smell alone is multitudes better than Capella. Also price is brilliant, about £12 for 100ml.
Now i'm wondering if there are any other decent custard concentrates out there?
I've recently tried one from Alchemists Cupboard which is one of their own i think "Natural essence of Vanilla Custard" and this stuff is vile, there is no creamyness to be found and it has an ungodly bitter earthy note in there, one to avoid methinks.
I'm thinking the Alchemists one is vile because there's no Acetoin or Acetyl Propionyl in there, this is much in abundance in Capella and PA concentrates.
So any other custard concentrates out there with the nice yellowy Acetoin / Acetyl Propionyl tinge to them? I think this is the key to a good custard.
I'm willing to spend some hard-earned so i can do a round-up of all the best custards.
