Today’s progress!

First up a extra long 30mm custom 510 for @Gitchy

Another 510 for @Gitchy - this is a cyclone colour for a serpent SMM.

Gitchy, your tips are done but I didn’t quite catch the postie I’m afraid.... they’ll be shipped out tomorrow for you! I hope that’s ok

Finally we have a custom 510 for @scrumpox and also a custom urban CAMO for his steamcrave plus.

I found these blanks on ebay, bog oak and purple gold...

Would these be workable to make tips? They are normally used by the pen making lot, but sparked my interest!

Yes and no mate, ideally it’d be me making the blanks for them so I can strategically place the wood and resin in the mould, in a way that captures the wood and resin in a drip tip (very small compared to a pen).

I’ll be making some soon, I have all the kit and materials to make the blanks, just the time I’m short on at the moment. But we’ll get there

Those blanks you linked you may get one, possibly two tips to show the resin and wood but the majority of them would be either all wood or all resin, hard to explain what I’m trying to say really, dunno if that makes any sense!

Maybe this explains it better, the crossed section is waste mostly, clamped into the chuck of the lathe.

The circled bit is probably the only section you’d get both showing in a tip, probably.

Ah, makes sense.. And yeah, the purpose is different so the needed distribution of material is different.
Looking idea though, be interesting to see what you come up with!
