Trying to find th how Mtl and single coil dtl tanks actually differ? If you put a 1ohm coi, swap to a 510 tip and close the air flow ring most of the way, a DTL tank still feels very different, but why ?

All I know is that for an effective low watts MTL you need a fast and concentrated/focused draw.

deck, chimney, chamber, airflow

Even when you close the airflow off it still feels sloppy because internally there still massive paths for the air to get 'lost' and a massive holes under the coil. DTL tanks these days are made to have big coils in them (in physical size)

Thank you! Now I know what my issue is.
I prefer vaping non-rta DTL tanks at low wattage, 2/3 closed air flow. unrestricted hit, not too much vapor.
Same setup won't work on a DTL RTAs, the first 2-3 second is unbearably harsh.
Now that I know what to look at; DTL RTAs have a much bigger funnel thing around the deck, there's too much air already in the chamber. I'm not getting a smaller cloud, just an more airy/flavorless but still big cloud.

I need to find a DTL rta with a very low and flat bell/funnel thingy and a narrow chimney ...which that's probably not a thing
Chamber size is an important factor.
Airflow in cubic somethings per something. probably 10 times less in MTL.

That's exactly it... and well put. However you are vaping you need the right air to vapour balance to get a nice satisfying vapour density. Same applies to MTL and DTL.

I'm sure someone could recommend something suitable, it's not my way of vaping but you won't be alone.

I guess you want a Restricted DL RTA. I'm not the best to advise on this though.

Just a thought, but you might be one of the people that will suit an RTA that can do both MTL and DTL and sets it up to how they like it? They don't suit me (I like a tight draw MTL) so can't advise which, but I'm sure someone will be able to?

How about that one that V1ck released? ... what was that called?
