What's new

Discontinued use of TapTalk as of 30th April 2014

I'm with you there. I'm on 4 forums and it's so much easier to access them from one place

The only reason I use Tapatalk over the POTV app is because in Tapatalk I can get notifications without sound where as in the POTV app there's no option to turn sound off.

No, I'm not going to flash my stock rom just to access a forum. I would be curious to know why 2.3 isn't supported by the POTV app though.

Oh well, at least it'll stop me obsessively checking the forum every couple of minutes :P

Because your phone counts as an ancient artifact? ;)
2.3 ???? That must be like the Nexus1?

Hi All,

Been helping OccultScientist and KMS with the forum recently and should be able to help most of you out here.

Will the POTV app allow me to have all my forums in one handy app like Tapatalk does?

No, but clicking the home button on your phone and then clicking the PotV icon should not be too strenuous for you :grin2: Not many more thumb stroked than hitting browse forums and then clicking on PotV from within tapatalk!

Already gone from my tapatalk on iPhone. Went yesterday. Wont let me get in and puts up some warning notice (I didn't bother reading). Got the POTV app though so all good.

Try rebooting tapatalk - it still works for me on Droid and iOS. Thanks for installing the PotV one, it is pretty much the same as using tapatalk itself!

What's the reason for dropping tapatalk? Some of us can't install the POTV app because of OS versions.

As KMS said, it will help with stats and understanding site usage, sending messages and alerts, and it will also allow PotV to show ads on the app which will help to pay for the app and the servers. The site currently needs three servers to handle this volume of traffic - hope you will all agree the site has been a lot snappier the last week or so. To keep PotV up and running so it can help more people who want to learn about vaping, and help fight the legislation the our glorious leaders keep trying to push on us, costs money. The site is not beholden to any vendor and is totally independent, but it won't survive without ads on the site / app. Personally I would rather see the ads (the site is hardly over-loaded with them) than not have this resource for me and others.

Already gone on android too.. shame as the app whilst good just isn't there yet

Like I said, reboot tapatalk and you will see it. It will be there until the 30th.

I can understand not having to support two apps.

As it seems that it's already been decided that tapatalk should go can I ask if we can expect the POTV app to support earlier android versions? 'Cos otherwise myself, and I'm sure many others, will be cut off from using the forum on a mobile which will be a right pain.

Good news! Yes, we can also push up a version of the PotV app that supports earlier Droid versions. This will mean that those of you on tapatalk who don't see the app in the Play store should be able to install the this version. Will shout when it is uploaded (tomorrow I expect) and you can then let us know whether it has worked for you.

For those of you on Android there is a dark theme available but can't see one on iOS but then can't see it on the free version of Tapatalk either...

I think I hit my quote limit so will have a trawl through but think the biggest annoyance is the lack of support for earlier Android devices and I am pretty sure we can rectify that when OccultScientist gets back from the pub :D

Now that is more of a PITA! Having a butchers at this one now - if can't find a fix for this then really would consider suggesting keeping tapatalk available. Nothing worth that sound notifications that you can't sodding disable...

Yes, sadly it is quite old and I'm stuck with it for another year :(

Phone envy / mod envy - which is worse? :D I could do everything I wanted on my last phone and only upgraded as it was freebie. Some of the old Andoid phones were really robust and nice to use. May not be able to play the shiniest games on them but apart from DopeWars and Solitaire what more do you need?

I hear you. I've got my phone set up just right, well until google throws an update at it that ruins my battery life - damn you hangouts! Solitaire and feedly and I'm set.

Just to let you all know, spikeyvic kindly helped me test the alternative install of the app and it worked fine for him so should be able to get this on the play store for early PM tomorrow. Will post up here when we have added it and then it usually only takes a few hours until it is available.
