Done a fresh micro coil and cotton build on the Kayfun Lite Plus yesterday and its been vaping great but this evening I started to get dry hits (not very nice with cotton) I'm draining the tank now with the view of doing a fresh build in the morning. What would cause it to start dry hitting all of a sudden after being great since doing the build?

ok theres a few things it could be...
1. pressure - i find if i fill it to the brim i get dry hits until i drain it a bit, not sure why, something to do with pressure.
2. too much cotton - less is more. cotton swells when moist, yes, i said it, MOIST! you dont want it real loose but not so tight its a struggle to get it through the micro coil. also when it comes to the cotton agains the mounts, i tend to thin my cotton as it leaves the microcoil. i wet it with just, stick the chamber bit on and then get a pokey stick and push to the side of the mount/platform.
3. thick juice/clogged coil - so if your juice is too thick you may have wicking issues, also the microcoils seem to clog badly quickly. i change my cotton every day and dry burn the coil, then change the coil every week minimum. drain it and have a luck at the coil and cotton.

also, top tip to stop dry burns... block the air hole with finger and suck like a muhfucker...

...good luck BrothersVXR :)

Probably a combination of thick juice, loose draw and too much cotton. When you wick the coil make sure to not put too much cotton in and to trim it so that it just touches the juice deck, it must not block the little channels at the sides of the juice deck, then check that your airflow is adjusted correctly you may find that you need to tighten the draw just a bit if your juice is getting thick in the cold weather...

Found the same thing with my KFL less wick be it silica or cotton works the best keep it minimal and it will work.

Before I got my KFL+ I'd been messing around with drippers for a few months, worried me a bit to see I'd charred some of the cotton on occasion and I noticed it happened whenever I squeezed as much cotton into the coil as possible, I also noticed it didn't efficiently wick when dripping into the well as opposed to the coil and wick. So I quickly discovered that more is less and cotton expands a hell of a lot.

I like to have my cotton loosely rolled and thin enough to touch the sides of the coil but not bunch up if pulling the cotton either way with out twisting, so basically, just to say touching the coil. I've not had any problems with dry hits or charred cotton since :)

Just had the exact same thing happen on my Russian, was working awesomely for the last couple of hours then I started getting the taste of burnt cotton(yuck)Pulled it apart, and found the tank was really full, drained out some & tried, perfect. So gooing to rebuild with fresh cotton & my favourite juice(as wasn't sure what the first build would be like with only getting the Russian delivered today)

Cotton is very forgiving but too much is often the problem. pbusardo review shows about right amount. (Imo)
