E-cig battery explodes in mans pocket !!!

I didn't realise these batteries are dangerous. I usually carry a spare in a plastic box but can they explode if they come into contact with another type of metal or is that all just 'stuff and nonsense'
Batteries vent if metal in your pocket creates a short circuit, it didn't explode it released some very hot nasty gases in his pocket.
If a mech has a battery that vents inside and has no venting holes, it has the potential to explode like a pipe bomb.

Oh right - I have 2 x mods that I use daily that use these batteries and I carry a spare also in a plastic case and I am always charging them on my work PC using a Nitecore charger. I must remember never to put them in my pocket along with loose change !!!

Yep loose in a pocket is a bad idea - but in the case - no worries...

Physics teachers live for days and stories like these. Screw your space walks, it's all about payback for the kids who never listened in class. All hail the Darwins.

coins, batteries in pocket, loose. asking for trouble buddy, no sympathy

What really gets on my tits with all this is that my rc planes are far more dodgy, mainly when they get left over winter I end up coming back to severly distended cells sometimes wedged in the fuselage... But because as a general rule its only enthusiasts, most folks play ball, I've been doing some amateur rocketeering with my kids (7 & 4) and no one has been injured because I've got half a brain...

On a separate note, anyone with young kids that like science, have been reading hawkins' George series of kids books, they are great fun, and have loads of real physics in too

I was just thinking "what sort of a cunt puts a battery in his pocket anyway" but then I realised the answer was in the subject matter if the thread.
