hi guys

I recently purchased a smok t-priv , I ordered two efest IMR 18650 3000mAH online from evapo.co.uk and a efest v2 luc charger to go with it , I received the batteries but charger got dispatched separately. Sorry to go on lol I have heard some bad reviews since my purchase and I'm worried there not the right battery's ? If anyone could give me some info that would be great.

Thanks

hi
yup, efest are not much liked.
what sort of wattage will you be using. are you a cloud chaser 100w + or a flavor chaser below 80watts
kept below 80w then samsung 30Q 3000mah is what i use
above 80w then samsung 25R 2500mah
or equivalent from sony or LG
all from our very own Ben Fogstar https://www.fogstar.co.uk/

Thanks for the reply , I currently use a Eleaf istick power 80w with a UD Athlon 22 mini with 0.5 coils , i vape at around 45-50 watts but I was planning to go up to 80 -90w with my new t-priv. Can I use the efest batteries while I wait for new ones ? And also do you think the fogstar own brand would be best ? Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

The problem with Efest is that some are good and some not so good. I don't think any hit the Ultra/Trustfire type of bad though. You can check Mooch's battery reviews on Reddit as he has tested some Efest batteries.

Hi and welcome to the forum as others have said about e fest not being good they are just re wrapped and pulse tested batteries I use Samsung 25 r in all my mods and never had any problems with them
If you use https://www.fogstar.co.uk/ don't forget to put POTV 15 in the coupon box for a cheeky discount

They'll be fine in the iPower at 50 watts, but don't use them at 80 watts.

So I shouldn't use them in my new t-priv ?

I wouldn't .... but only because you have no idea what cells they are (under the efest wrapping) ... they could be 10a cells. (which is what efest have done before)

If you really must use them just keep an eye (or hand) on how hot they are getting under normal use.

Because nobody knows what they are it's impossible to say what's safe and what you should do. It's like me giving you a cell in a plain black wrap and you asking someone else, they won't have any idea.

If they really are 3000 mAh chances are they'll be samsung 30q's or something but it's impossible for us to know.

A quick google finds this (all words and pictures from Mooch aka Battery Mooch)

UPDATE: The Efest 35A 3000mAh exists in at least three versions! Because there wasn't enough confusion already...

It seems now that there are at least three versions of the Efest 35A 3000mAh battery available, maybe four! I'll try to sort them out....

1) The 20A battery that's been available for a while with the larger three-leg top cap (contact). This is the one I reviewed on Nov 5th and is most likely a Samsung 30Q. This one is still being sold and is a decent 20A battery that can be pulsed to 40A.

2) The 10A battery that just recently surfaced and that I just tested and posted about. It has the smaller three-leg top cap and skinnier legs. It is identical in appearance and performance to the LG MH1. I do not know how hard you can pulse it but its internal resistance is very high and that limits pulse performance.

3) A four-leg version with a large top cap. It might be an 20A LG HG2 but it could also be a 10A LG MJ1. It's too hard to tell with the pictures I've seen. I found out about this third version through /u/ferongr at ECR and a photo that Thorin13 at the e-kapnisma forum provided. Thanks to you both! Since then I have found at least a couple of posts from folks here in the US that have this four-leg version too. This one is still being sold.

4) A photo was posted of a fourth type of Efest 35A 3000mAh yesterday that looked like it had a top cap different from the above three. Unfortunately, I cannot find that photo now. If you have one of these Efests, it would be great if you could post a clear shot of the top. If the wrap was off too, that would be incredible as it makes determining which battery it is much easier. Thank you!

A couple of thoughts I want to express...

All this only applies to the 35A 3000mAh Efest! It has nothing to do with any other Efest batteries out there. If you have one of those other batteries, nothing has changed.

I do not hate Efest and my testing of the 10A version was most certainly not bullshit. The ones I tested were verified as authentic and are clearly 10-amp rated MH1's, in both appearance and performance. I don't care which battery you use. I do care whether you have the correct rating information for the batteries you do choose to buy though.

The 10A version of the Efest 35A 3000mAh will not burst into a fireball if you use at at high discharge current levels, above 10A. Its internal resistance is so high that its voltage will just plummet and you'll either quickly get a "low battery" message from your regulated mod or your mechanical/unregulated mod will seem to almost stop firing. This limits the temperature rise in the battery and keeps it from venting. Bad things could still happen if you short circuit this battery though.

If you have the 10A version of this battery, you can still use it at up to 30W-35W or so. No need to replace it if you vape at these power levels or lower.

If you have the four-leg version of this battery, unfortunately, I have no information for you yet. But if it's been working ok for you, and isn't getting hot, then it seems like it would be ok to continue using.

I'll post another update if I find out anything more. Here are the posts regarding this battery so far:

Fogstar has a special discount until this Sunday - use 1YEAR25 for 25% off.

Incidentally, while Efest could be goodness knows what under their battery covers ("wraps"), Fogstar and Torchy will say what they have re-wrapped, you don't have to get special wraps, just buy them as they came from the factory and stick with the big, trusted brands (Samsung, Sony, LG).
