Electronic cigarettes challenge anti-smoking efforts

An absract from the University of Athens saying that vaping caused lung damage made the headlines a few months ago. The 'science' has now been proved to be non-science and even if airway resistance is increased slightly in people who have never vaped before (some had never smoked either) it wasn't increased at all in subjects with asthma or COPD. A slight increase in airway resistance doesn't mean lung damage and I believe I read that happens to everybody breathing moist, warm air.
The research group failed to declare a financial interest, funded by Pfitzer, or that past research had been on Champix, paid for by Pfitzer.
If the moist air thing is true then everybody in Florida must have damaged lungs!

“The battle with traditional cigarette makers is the thorniest issue,” said Liu Debin, president of China International Tendering Coand chairman of Genertec Consulting Co Ltd, an international promotions partner of Ruyan since 2005. “Tobacco forces overseas are trying their best to suppress ecigarettes by distributing rumors and urging governments -- the benefi ciaries of tobacco taxes -- to establish high barriers to market entrance,” Liu said.
Liu said that e-cigarette manufacturers should not regard the product as substitutes, but complements to traditional tobacco.
