I've just started recoiling my evod's and using cotton wick. Much better then standard for vapor production. I'm using 0.25m/30awg kanthar a.

Getting:-
2.5ohm 12 winds around 1.5mm pin

1.4ohm from 9 winds 1.5mm pin.

I'm trying to find sweet spot for resistance, any suggestions. I'm after the usual lots of flavour lots of vapour. I don't mind sacrificing a bit of vapour for flavour mind.

I should mention I'm using standard ego at sec until my ego vv comes from fasttech.

My next step is 10 winds to try and hit 1.8ohms.

Any suggestions?

Try different gauge wire. I get 1.6ohms from 28g 0.32mm Kanthal in a micro coil. I liked it at 7.5W with my tobacco juice. I think its all personal preference.

I've found a slightly higher (1.8ohm - 2.2ohm) resistance to be better with evods - why this is I'm not entirely sure but the vape overall was comparable to 1.3-1.5 in a protank for me

Interesting. I just tried:-

2 ohm (10 winds around 1.5mm rod 0.25mm/30awg.

Good vapour but still a bit low on flavour. It's hard to tell, might be experiencing a touch of vapours tongue.

I figured when I get my ego vv, 2ohm is probably best to give me the scope to use the variable voltage to achieve good wattage limits.

How about coil type. I'm using a compressed micro coil at the min, anybody have any experience with increased loop size shorter overall coil length, or maybe spread coil?

I've been using .25mm 30 awg kanthal 9 wraps on 1.2mm ish precision screwdriver in protank which comes out at about 1.7ohm and at 8 watts is perfect for me
examples here ignore last one it's a work in progress

Got some coiling to get done tomorrow, will give that 9 on 1.2 a go!

They look good, nice and neat. I think I'll give your coil config a try.

Them diamond coil setups look real hard. Don't think I got the dexterity for it myself, might give dual coil a go though.

You could end up going round in circles, especially when the vv batt comes. Look at it like this, & this is a simplified way of putting it. Right now you are trying different resistance coils, (good for you too for experimenting), ok that's good because your battery is a fixed voltage & so those different resistances will yield different results. When you get a vv batt though, you can wind yourself a nice coil, say 1.4ohm & then adjust the voltage to suit the coil. In theory you ought to get a decent vape that way. If that still doesn't please you, THEN try a different resistance coil.

Trail & error, you'll learn more by what you are doing rather than keep buying more throw away atty heads.

After much trials and tribulations I've settled on

10 winds 1.5mm loop approx 2.2ohm

And

9 winds 1.5mm loop approx 1.9ohm

Best flavour between the two I can't decide. Both seem decent.

Had some problems with cotton wick, not using enough so poor vapour production. Got that sorted now.

Thanks for everyone's help.

ive found that in my t3s(large evod) my sweet spot is 2.2ohm and 8w with a cotton wick. any lower wattage and it doesn't work, just gurgles and floods. Anything above doesn't seem to make much difference, just a hotter vape.
