Any body ever tried a staggered coils so say 4coils gap 4coils. I'm guessing its will be kind of like a dual coil.

So like this

I think I'll give it a go, hopefully I can fit one of them in with about 1.9-2.2ohms

Might be something in that, the coils I was using yesterday seem to be working a lot better today. I've heard of letting juice steep but coils!

A staggered coil is different to dual coils because a staggered coil is in series. Dual coils are a parallel circuit so it lowers your resistance. To pick figures out of thin air say your 4 wraps is 1 ohm. Your staggered coil will be a 2 ohm coil but a parallel dual coil will be 0.5 ohm. For a given resistance dual coils mean more wick and more coils heating the wick so it should mean more vapour. Hope that made sense :-)

Cheers, I know what you mean. I've got to the point where I like my resistance at about 2ohm'ish for my set up, just experimenting with different coil/wick layouts.

The diamond coil seems to be a circuit in series as it's just X amount of coils bunched into 4 then bent into diamond shape. The +and- legs don't touch. I guess it works like having 4 mini coils and wicks working at the same time, all be it in series.

I guess looking at the coil from a different perspective it's about getting:-

Coils heating up to optimum temp range what ever that is for each and everyone with flavour and vapour production in mind.

Getting optimal contact between coil and wick thus contact with liquid without risk of flooding or burning device/wick.

Might experiment a bit with a duel coil/dual wick circuit in parallel. Hopefully I can get it to come out at approx 2ohms in my evod.
