You could try learning sign language, as my mother had to do for my grandfather.

I was more than willing to do the required courses, but neither my employer nor the union were prepared to subsidise it. I did a 6 week deaf awareness course, because at that time we had a couple of deaf members, one who I had represented on a number of occasions. The courses clashed with my shift pattern, and got no paid time off, let alone any help paying for the actual course. The deaf woman was a nasty piece of work anyway, so I though fuck it.

Bit of a conundrum for me mate.
I am mask exempt due to breathing problems.
But I also have the old "farmer giles" so hows that work.

I was joking about not wearing a mask with piles. Not got piles really. Just trying to make light of the situation. I always wear a mask. It does my head in when people don’t.

Very true, companies do little (although yours seems to be the worst I have come across) to support employees that are in effect supporting some of their other employees, and therefore helping the company efficiency.
But your original point was that talking to the deaf was a valid reason for not wearing a mask, whereas it is not, as it is avoidable.
