Hi Folks.
I've been DIYing for a while now, nothing complicated, just single flavour mixes. I haven't had any failures and every batch has been consistent and full of flavour.
I do however have one query that I hope some of you more long term DIYers can shed some light on.
I use premade liquids at 18mg, so, I started off by making my own with the same nicotine content, ie 18mg. I'm an experienced vaper and I know, 'by feel' what kind of nicotine hit I'm getting from a toke.
All of my 18mg DIY's have been way to much as far as nicotine hit goes, and a milky from chain vaping is always on the cards.
I now make my mixes at between 12mg and 14 mg and seem to have got myself a nice level playing field with a nicotine hit about the same as I was used to, and enjoying, with premade liquids.
This makes me think that either - 1. The premades are not always at the nicotine strength that they state. 2. My nicotine bases, used for my DIY exceed the stated nicotine content. or 3. Everything is exactly the same and the 'clean ness' and superior flavours are just making me think that I'm getting more of a nicotine hit.
I rather think that it's the latter, my 18mg mixes are the same as my premade 18mg liquids, and I've just lost the plot.

The above could also be due to my DIY liquid being 'simple' ie, nicotine base, flavour,VG,PG, and nowt else which may,or may not, improve the nicotine absorption, when compared to mass produced 'factory' liquids and their accompanying ingredient extras.

Either way, I know I should have ventured into DIY a year or two ago seeing as an average of £6.00 for 50ml of delicious, full flavoured, e-liquid, makes the whole DIY thing a no brainer.

I blame the switch from rba to rda for my requirements of lower nicotine content as tank/genesis attys fed me 18mg and the RDA's feed me 12-14mg to avoid the headache from overdoses though I also changed from premixed to homemade about the same time.

Good point Chegs , and something that I,also, considered, but I had to opt for the juice being the reason because I toke premades using the more efficient 'modern' rba's and rda's with no OD symptoms.

I suppose that the age (maturity) of the liquid could also play a part. I know we steep DIY stuff, but I've never kept any long enough to see if everything levels out after 6 months or so.

Nic, PG & VG used can have a lot to do with it. Also steeping time, nic content reduces ever so slightly as it steeps, which also mellows the hit somewhat

Also be very meticulous about how you measure the nicotine. If you're using a 1ml syringe, and need to put 0.5ml of nicotine in whatever you're making to turn it into 18mg, then simply filling the syringe to 0.5ml won't quite cut it. There will be extra in the blunt needle segment. If you fill it to 0.5ml, and then remove the syringe from your nic bottle and keep pulling up the plunger, you might be suprised to notice theres actually 0.6ml or so in there. When using 72mg base, the difference between 0.5ml and 0.6ml in a small sample of e-liquid is quite a bit.
