Falcon King coil issues

Hi all, I’ve been using the Falcon King for a while now and in the past few months I’ve been having my coils die out very quickly on me, wondering if anyone else has this issue.

I’m running the M1+ coils at 60W, I prime all of my coils and increase the wattage from 20W in increments. I wouldn’t think my liquid is gunking the coil either as I’ve used it for years and never had issues. On inspection the cotton is still fairly clean.

The only thing I can think of is that for portability when driving I’ve been sticking the tank on my OBS cube mod, still at 60W. Surely this wouldn’t cause it to burn? Have I just been unlucky with bad batches of coils or what, getting a bit fed up changing my coils every few days at this point. Cheers in advance

To add: I usually vape around 60ml of juice a week, not chaining it either.

I've seen a few people on here complaining of burning out coils very quickly recently, varying brands and tanks. The common theme is basically they are all made in China. It seems like there may have been a drop in QC or something to catch up after the lockdowns etc.

Edit: these kinds of issues with coils not lasting is why I made the switch to rebuildable stuff, though I did this way before all of the covid stuff happened.

Having had one of those tanks and M1+ being my favorite of the coils I tried, I know you should be getting at least a week or so from them, even with super sweet 70/30 or 80/20 juice. 60w is right on the bottom end of the recommended range also, so I would definitely expect at least a week from a coil.

If I was going to go back to a stock coil tank, I would definitely start using that tank again, it's a good one

I know a lot of people rave about how good the coils are, and I’ve experienced them myself too. Can’t really think what I could be doing to burn them out so quick, I feel like I must have gotten very unlucky with the batches or something.

As I say, I think there is some kind of QC issue or something right now because you are not the only person that has asked this kind of question recently.

If the coils are definitely genuine, which can be checked on the Horizontech website from memory, your juice is the same, wattage and everything else is the same, that is the only real thing that I can think would be the issue.

Maybe now is a good time to look in to RDA/RTA, it's a bit more of a hassle but it's cheaper and can be way more reliable with a bit of practice.

Hopefully they get sort it sorted soon, really like the tank when it works well so I'm gonna stick with it. I'll pick some more coils up tomorrow, fingers crossed they're better.

Best of luck, hope they work for you.

If you like that tank, stick to it.
I use 2 Falcon compatible tanks: the Ehpro Raptor and the Augvape Skynet.
So far, I´ve vaped pretty much all coils available from the 3 brands:

Horizontech: Falcon, Falcon King, Falcon Resin-Artisan, Falcon-Resin, Falcon Mini

-M1+: 0.16, 75W, Mesh -> bamboo fiber
-M-Dual: 0.38, 80W, Dual Mesh (net style) -> bamboo fiber
-M1: 0.15, 70-80W, Mesh -> 70% cotton + 30% wood pulp
-M2: 0.16, 70-80W, Mesh (strip style) -> 70% cotton + 30% wood pulp
-M-Triple: 0.15, 80-85W, Mesh (honeycomb style) -> 70% cotton + 30% wood pulp (this one is amazing)
-F1: 0.20, 80W, regular -> 70% cotton + 30% wood pulp (not tested)*
-F2: 0.20, 80W, regular -> Natural flax fiber (not tested)*
-F3: 0.20, 70W, regular -> flax fiber + flax paper (not tested)*
* I dont do wire stock coils anymore, as those usually lasts less and overall performance is worse than mesh.

Ehpro: Raptor Tank
-EL1B-3 0.15ohm Mesh Single Coil, seagrass fiber cotton, 70w (this is the best IMO)
-EL2B-1 0.25ohm Mesh Dual Coil, seagrass fiber cotton, 80w
-EL4B-1 0.15ohm Mesh Quad Coil, seagrass fiber cotton, 70/100w

Smoant: Ladon
-Single Mesh Coil, 0.16, Tea Tree fiber cotton, 70-80w
-Dual Mesh Coil, tea tree fiber cotton, 70-85w

I vaped those M1+ coils at around 70w with fully open AFC, and Im quite sure those lasted for 3 to 4 weeks. (with tank rotation).
Maybe a bad batch... but its unlikely.

You may try one of the other coils; I find the Ehpro especially good.

You can also check for this in your mod:
- Make sure no "auto" stuff is enabled
- Set a soft ramp up setting if available. Usually: VW-S

If you a re using a 2ml version of the tank, time to put a bubble glass on it.
Also, dont try to empty the tank as those Horizontech coils have the wicking port a bit too high, more than normal.
