So on my RBA/mech mod Adventure, I think I have finally figured out a few things

Make sure you don't ohm too high (dropped from 2.4 to the 0.7 - 1.6 range)
Make sure you have decent batteries (Binned the crappy ultrafire as didn't hold charge)
Keep your coils tidy (I like microcoils on my bcc's but can't get them to work well on Gennys so go for 3-5 wraps)

My only problem now is wicking

So I have the following materials at my disposal:
  • 500 SS Mesh
  • 2.5 SS Rpoe
  • 3mm Silica
  • 3mm Ekowool
  • Cotton Balls

I can't get a decent enough wicking to get good performance, i've tried
  • Full cotton wick - Wicks ok but dries out quick
  • full SS Mesh Wick - Wicks well but very metallically taste
  • SS Mesh wick with cotton top - Wicks well but burns the cotton
  • SS Mesh with an ekowool sleeve - frays like a bitch so I gave up
  • SS Rope - Couldnt get a decent wick and was a bitch to cut
  • Silica - wicks well but dries out unless I tilt

Any suggestions? any pics of yer wicks would be appreciated

Cotton. But use less. All the videos that say it should 'just' be able to pull through aren't quite there IMO. I now use a pitiful amount of cotton in my Microcoils. It swells a lot more when wet than people allow for. Works for me in gravity/pressure tanks. I'm not a fan of gennie style so no comment there really.

I dint change the cotton wick in my russian until I'm changing flavours so doing a full clean down. Never get dry hits or burn the cotton. Only get flooding if I pull the old "cover the airhole" routine while not paying attention to where my hands are on the device.

Can't really comment on other styles. Only on my first dripper this week so only tried cotton in that so far too. Genesis style don't suit how I vape so I had very little patience with them. Don't own one at all now.

I've tried silica and ekowool in my taifun and both work well. Still haven't set that up with cotton yet. That's next flavour change.

Maybe it's because I like long lung inhales that it dries up so quick, I'm thinking of getting the patriot dripper as soon as it's back in stock

I'm still enjoying my BCC tanks but just can't get my gennys to perform the same, but I won't let it beat me, I will get a decent vape out of one lol

It was the whole leak thing with gennies for me. Anything I can't just chuck in my pocket and not worry about is a no go for me as an everyday vaping solutions. I basically only use drippers and bottom coil pressure jobs like the kayfun

I carry my kraken around in my pocket. It doesn't leak and very rarely dry hits.
I use a SS mesh wick, about 1.5 to 2mm thick. I never use much, just enough for a couple of twists. Nice and loose in the wick hole. I then put an 3mm ekowool sleeve over the top section.
4 wraps of .28mm and happy days. :-)

And I fill all holes with screws except the wick obviously. Leaving a hole open will make if no good for your pocket. The small wick let's enough air in to allow juice of without it going everywhere.

My wick always touches the sides really snug. Same with coil. Maybe thats what im doing wrong. Not enough air to draw it up

Breakthrough time on the RSST wahooooooo

SS mesh, silica centre with 4 wraps, dual coil 0.7 ohms and Vapes like a dream!!!!!

Just gotta drill out the air hole and I think I'm sorted, sick as tits Boobs!

thanks guys, any idea of air hole size?

I took mine out to 2mm and used a wine "cork" the rubber one to make a chamber reducer. I'm happy with it as a back up tank system now.

2mm also, 3 wraps of 0.7 kanthal ribbon, bloody lovely.
How I do my wicks - Take one paper clip, and one piece of mesh around 2/3cm wide...
fold the edige over on the paper clip, then roll it with your fingers. This should give you a nice, long, straight tube down the centre of the wick :)
What I've found, bigger the hole - faster the wicking.
