What's new

feeling out of breathe

yeah we are all fecked .. if we smoked over 15-20 yrs all we can do is try and push our selfs we know our lung capacity is far shorter than it should be but that extra 20 mins walking the dog helps .. lol even tho the dog's like feck that dad lets go home :P

so the good news is I've been checked over by the doctor. theres nothing wrong with me. my husband thinks i'm vaping to much. can that happen?

how do I get my self fitter? went walking all round wales and I was fine. i'm over a stone and a half over weight. could that cause it? just started trying to lose weight. weigh in day tomorrow.

There is only one way to get fitter:

Exercise.

That's it, no magic, no other options. Just exercise. The more you do, the fitter you'll get.

Losing weight is great and commendable, but just dieting won't make you fitter, it'll just make you lighter.

The best thing would be to do both - lose weight and exercise. Handily, they compliment each other fantastically.

Walking is ok exercise to begin with, if you can't handle more intensity - but you need to push yourself to see any change.

(Seek specific medical advice before starting a new exercise regime, ask the question about it directly - I can't be held responsible for heart attacks ;))

I vape between 5ml to 10mls a day. on a 3 nicotine strength.
if you do want to cut that down ...and it's not bad up your nic to 6mg ..
I'm on 12mg and do that and some times more daily ..and have done for 3 yrs before that I was on 18mg for 3 yrs maybe 4 ... lol

Irrespective of how much you vape, never forget its soooooooooooooooooo much better for you than smoking. One way of managing it is to have two juices on the go at the same time but one with higher nic strength if you feel you need it. I vaped my lower strength throughout the day and every now and again vaped the higher strength just to give me that extra kick.

This! I walk a lot and it keeps me well but it doesn’t keep me aerobically fit. Unless you are power walking you won’t be pushing your heart and increasing your oxygen levels. For this you need to be doing something like cycling or any other aerobic activity. If waking is your only option then you can try doing some power walking reps. Walk normally and then walk as fast as you can for 10 seconds, then walk normally for 30 seconds till you get your breath back and repeat. Start with just a few reps each time you walk and then increase as time goes by. Just don’t rush things. Well done on giving up the cities and good luck!

I bought a new mountain bike just before I stopped the stinkies, every day I used to cycle out of our town, uphill and quite a brutal one. I could never manage to cycle to the top without getting off and pushing the bike the last few hundred metres. Four weeks after I stopped smoking I made it to the top. I wasn't trying to, it just happened. I was however, pushing myself quite hard at the time and you will see a big difference when you do push the body that wee bit harder.
Unless you exert yourself to the point where your breathing is laboured, you are not really doing enough... and then you need to keep on doing it.

Hard work isn't easy...;)
