First experiment. Adding base to finished juices - how long to steep...

So a friend brought me over 500ml each of VG and PG.

Firstly, having never seen VG in its undiluted state before... wow, that stuff is GLOOPY.

Well, since I don't have any nic yet, I figured I'd use the base to help bulk up some juices I like, but don't vape anymore cos I've dropped a few nic levels and they're now "too strong".

Ideal candidate, a 10ml bottle of 70pg/30vg 24mg RY4.

What I wanted was to lower the nic level, bulk the juice up a little, and get more clouds out of it than I would have. So I took 6ml of VG and 4ml of PG (to avoid dry burning) and added it to the juice.
I've shaken it up, and while I accept that the flavour will be diminished too, a large part of that flavour was the bitterness of the nic anyway, so we'll see how it goes.
By my basic maths, I now have 20ml of 12mg RY4, probably in the 50/50 vg/pg range.

My question is: I've mixed it together and I've shaken it up really good. Do I need to leave it so the flavour from the juice mixes into the additional base? If so, how long for? :). There's 20ml of liquid in a 30ml bottle, so plenty of air in there.

(I admit there will probably be a few experienced mixers mouthing "you did what?" at my post, but hey, this is my first time "mixing" :).

The only way to be sure is vape it and see.
Personally I find my baccy mixes get better over the first couple of days then do not improve any more.
Others will think differently.

I'd just give it a taste and see....You should know then whether to leave it a bit or not.....

Ditto a wee taste and if not to your liking leave for a couple of days then try again

UPDATE: I figured just to be on the safe side I'd give the juice 24 hours, so I bottled and labelled it, and put it in to "infuse". In my mind's eye I imagined the ickle RY4 taste particles mixing with the "new" VG/PG to make it a homogenous liquid.

Took it out 5 minutes ago and filled a kayfun 4 with it.
Smelled the bottle - wow, to say I diluted it to half-strength, there's still a lovely strong RY4 flavour.

Now the taste test. 1.2 ohm kayfun 4, single coil, 13.0w (3.9v).

Surprisingly strong earthy tobacco taste with plenty of throat hit, and a stronger than expected caramelly/vanilla-y RY4 taste.

The liquid is a little thick so I'll see if dry hits become a problem, but for now, I think my first experiment in mixing has gone well :D.

When I first starting mixing, this was the very first thing I did. Took a few bottles of ready made which were, to my taste, over flavoured, and diluted them using VG/PG/nic base.

I don't buy much premade juice any more but invested in some Captain's Reserve this week. Again, I find them very tasty but over-flavoured, so I'll be diluting a 5ml sample with my premixed base to see how that goes. EDIT - I wasn't so brave, just mixed 2ml of juice with 1ml of my base, to see how that works out.

Worst case scenario would be getting 10mls of under-flavoured juice ... best case would be doubling the amount of perfectly delicious but pricey juice for pennies. Definitely worth a punt I say.

The other obvious benefit of dilution would be to reduce the nicotine level in some high nicotine juice. If you can't vape 24mg any more, bring it down to 12mg. Yes, you will lose flavour but on the other hand you can get creative by adding you own concentrates to it.

The maturation time needed is probably less than mixing everything from scratch, since a lot of the juice has already bonded. But it's simple really, just vape a little and see if it's tasty.
