I have found it to be very frustrating on vendors websites not having a guide regarding recommended percentages for a particular flavour.

It would be nice to have a rough idea just how strong a flavour is instead of the usual "taste is subjective" of course it is but a recommended start point wouldn't hurt.
I have a regular vape, inerwera Gold & Silver that is a tobacco and is very concentrated, I mix at 4% yet I have some fruity ones that I mix at 20%.

What I would like to see the retailers put on their sites is something like, mix at 1<5%,5<10%,10<15% or 15<20%. Doing this would save novice mixers or even experienced mixers a lot of time when mixing a flavour for the first time, at least if you get it not quite right, you are in the ball park.

Perhaps there is a reason for not making this information available, maybe they don't want you to know how much bang for your buck you can get from a particular flavour or am I being cynical?

I totally agree with you.

Chefs vapours have a page on their website where they give their own informed view of the different flavour concentrates that they sell, and I have found this invaluable.

I can't link from my phone but if you go to the main menu you can find it under the store information link.

Couldn't agree more!
In the absence of any info I take a look at this. It's something of a guide, so you know roughly where to start from. If there's no number against the flavour, or if the flavour's not listed, you can work out an average for flavour types of any of those suppliers.

Thats very helpful scrumpox is there a link to download it all from?

It's not just taste that's subjective, it's also expectation. I'm sure the level of flavour we all expected when we started varies hugely.

I dived straight into DIY, ordering a mixing kit with my first mod and found a level I liked. This was clearly higher than the norm and I find many premixed juices too weak.

But now there's another factor - RBA's, and the incredible Aerotank Turbo. I've now dropped my flavour and nic levels as these beasts deliver so much more.

Then there's the VG / PG ratio. Using high PG on a RBA you could get away with half the concentration you would need with high VG in a standard tank.

I've found a novel way of guesstimating... i just dab a little concentrate on my finger, if it tasted nothing like it's supposed to (i.e highly concentrated) then i know it'll be good around 5%, if it tastes like what the label suggests, then maybe 15-20% (capella vanilla custard springs to mind)

You don't want to do this with tobaccos though, they just taste rank, and best to start with 1% for all tobaccos and add more if needed.

Here you go Chefs Vapour

It all depends how strong you want your flavour. I mix Red Astaire at 8%. That works for me. But then again, I don't like strong flavours. Trial and error really.
