From dtl to mtl

Hi folks. Pleasure to be part of the group. I've recently purchased an innokin zenith pro tank as I wasn't getting the full satisfaction (hit on the throat) from my tpp tank on my voopoo drag 3. I've primed the coil properly (tried 1.2ohm and 1.0ohm), made sure that the wattage is correct for each coil range and im not getting any flavour compared to the voopoo coils.
My question is, is the issue possibly that as I've transitioned from dtl to mtl, I'm not getting any flavour at all? And is it a case of holding my discipline, sticking with the zenith pro and giving my taste buds time to adapt? Or could it be something else?

Hello Gavin oakes and welcome to POTV

You seem to be doing everything right so the first thing that springs to my mind is the eLiquid. MTL is really well suited to 50VG/50PG so I'm wondering what VG/PG mix you're using.

I use both MTL and DTL and get great flavour from both but I use RTA's and not stock coil tanks. I was using an Innokin Zlide Tank until recently with the 1.6 ohm coils and it was great for flavour and vapour.

If it will help I can send you a new/sealed 1.6 ohm Z-Coil to try. Free of charge, don't be shy and PM me if you want one to try.

What juice are you using and what is the VG/PG ratio? 50/50 would work best.

Agree with the above, MTL works better with 50/50 juice as the higher PG ratio carries flavour better. DTL tends to get through more juice to provide the same flavour punch from the higher VG juices.

Agree with everyone above that 50/50 juice is a lot better for flavour when MTLing.

I both DTL and MTL and I've noticed the flavour hits differently when I MTL. I might be talking a load of shite but for me I taste MTL vape a bit more in my whole mouth, whereas when I DTL it hits the back of my tounge more. As I say it might be nonsense but it is something I've noticed since I started to MTL a lot more.

Just wondering if you was using any nicotine ???

I mean if you was DTL on 3mg, then you will likely notice less " hit "
when trying MTL on 3mg, you'd need 6+mg to likely get a nic fix

50/50 on a Zenith 1.2 ohm should provide good results
but might take a while for you to adjust from thick plumes to more modest vapour
that you savour differently to DTL

your buds probably got used to thick clouds of flavour - a bit like vapor's tongue maybe
when going to MTL & lighter/tighter draw etc...

If you was on 0mg, then I do not wish to suggest adding nic (say 3% as a test)
but it assist with the throat hit you seek, though flavour is going to be a different kind of vape

hope you manage to get the hit you are looking for with a little more trial/error

You would need to up your nic a bit, I dtl at 0.2mg and mtl at 0.9mg, even then I find mtl less satisfying and prefer a restricted dtl.

Thankyou for such a response folks! I am actually using 50/50 nic salts at 10mg. I go for straight fruity flavours, never been a fan of the deserty sweet stuff. I think it may be a matter of my buds having to adapt. I may have to take you up on your offer Jim, thankyou! Love the name of the website by the way
